Meghan and Prince Harry are moving to the U.S./Canada - OFFICIAL

Harry and Megan will get to live in Canada, make money, retain their titles, keep connected to the royal family when they travel back and give the finger to the British press. Charles should have no problem kicking lesser royals off the duty and public payroll list now that his own son has stepped back. The Queen has a reason to delay giving the throne to Charles with all the "crisis". Will loses because he and Kate will need to pick up more of the royal duties and they have a history of trying to avoid as much work as possible. They also will end up with the brunt of the British press problems now.

Your bias is so transparent. Take a break.

This actually seems like both a fair assessment of the outcome and a fair situation. Royals should have the option of determining how much of themselves they want to give to the concept of monarchy. After all, the majority of the world doesn’t hold with the idea at all.

Interesting statement. I agree with the Sun analysis.

The Queen calls them Harry and Meghan, not the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Alternatively, Meghan and Harry become seen as greedy and out of touch due to their huge speaking fees and trying to build a fortune out of just being the next Karadashians rather than anything sincere and Meghan is still unhappy and the great Sussex divorce happens in about five years and Harry goes back to the UK alone.

Meanwhile Will and Kate do the actual duty and become widely and quietly respected for their pragmatism and stiff upper lip and duty to the British state. And they've got Meghan out of the picture.

The Queen is never stepping down. She doesn't do abdication. So your theory is destroyed by your lack of knowledge of the monarchy and what it actually does.

But she is under public pressure to step down from some quarters, and this gives her another excuse. Honestly, though, she's almost 94. She won't live that much longer.

Megan and Harry are extremely popular especially with progressive to moderates, under 65 crowd, multinationals etc. They'll do fine. The people that hate them like the crazy poster have always hated them. The racist older white lady demographic has never been a part of their brand.

Canada will do well too. One paper estimated that Harry and Megan brought in over 2B to England in tourism. Canada does not have anything at the level of the Sussex family and their choosing Canada will help Canadain tourism.

The pressure to step down is coming from Charles aides who have been trying to push things along and accelerate things. This will stall that for a bit. She'll step aside eventually when she becomes ill.

Not the PP -

The Cambridge’s become widely respected? So you mean avoiding work and hiding out in the countryside hasn’t brought that so far in the past 9 years?

Check the Andrew scandal time. Charles had his courtiers leaking left-and-right the possibility that he would step in as ‘Regent’ on the Queen’s 95 birthday. So speak to the PoW about his lack of knowledge of the monarchy please.

And none of your points undo the fact that the Sussexes are now free and the Cambridge’s will have to step up HARD. No taking off the entire months of March, May, and July this year.

Unless you’ve got some other adult HRHs folded in a closet somewhere who can immediately start touring the 16 Commonwealth realms? Bonus points if they’re under 65!

Beatrice and Eugenie would happily take a piece of that action in exchange for money from the Sovereign Grant.

Meghan reportedly made around $5 million in the course of her acting career on Suits - $50K per episode and then a bunch more money for brand sponsorship, her two fashion lines, and her "lifestyle" stuff.

I went to NYU with a ton of out-of-work actors who would desperately love her supposed "D-list" success of $5 million. If she wasn't married to Harry, she could easily retire as a single mom assuming she wisely invested her money.

Bull****. I guarantee she didn't have $500K to her name, let alone $5M. She couldn't even afford to get bunion surgery until recently.

Ouch.

I wouldn’t count her out. Ppl have been expecting her to die since the 90s. I do however think Phillip to be gone by her Diamond Jubilee.

So, you think she’ll still be queen 10 years from now? When she’s well into being a centenarian?

They’ll do fewer appearances, plus have the power to shape the monarchy for the new era. They are discreet and understand how to work the system, they will be fine.

Canada won't receive much benefit from them, hopefully enough to cover the cost.

They're not popular with progressives and, after this stunt, not popular with royalists either.

How will it affect Canadian tourism in any way?

They’re not an option. Remember, Charles will be the next king and he’s long advocated for a more streamlined monarchy. He’s not going to lose face by having his (very popular) son step back and having his (very unpopular) nieces take on a royal role. That goes against everything he stands for. The only option is for William to step up - no wonder he’s looking angry lately.

And Charles would rather light Windsor Castle on fire AGAIN than let that happen.

We’ll see if his attitude towards Andrew’s girls changes. A big step would be announcing the wedding date that’s been delayed five months so far...

The Sun is a rag.

The Queen sounds like the loving grandmother that she is. She is very loving of Harry.
