| How does one say "good riddance!" in French? |
Nope. She is fine doing an interview after the match on the court, fine playing the match in front of thousands of people. None of that is consistent with social anxiety. She admitted that the press might mess up her confidence and lessen her chances of winning on clay. That is gaming. She seems ok with doing press if she wins the tournament. I was the most vocal supporter of her on the thread until I saw the statements about "not messing up my mental strength..." Pressers are a huge inconvenience and add a lot of time after the match to an already tiring schedule. Nobody likes them. She wants to go to bed hours earlier than her opponent. Yeah, no. Those of us who understand tennis, know what a huge advantage this would be to her if she was accomodated. |
You have legal options and can file a complaint. If youve been harassed and didnt feel protected then maybe you should support further legislation for employee protection. Ive never understood this BS with humans lately. Like have we just given up trying to improve for the next generation? Collective forward movement is no longer a thing? You suffered through harassment so its okay for others to suffer? |
You can always just admit you were wrong, PP. Is that so hard? |
+1 Where did Osaka say she was sexually harassed. Why is this even being discussed? |
Va te faire foutre. |
She acted like someone who understands how many people view mental health issues — especially in people that they can “other”. She also acted like someone who is an introverted, anxious, private person. PP, it’s responses like yours that create the kind of environment that make it difficult for people to be publicly open about mental health struggles. |
Ask the head of the French Open? Oh wait he didn’t take any questions from the media either. |
Lots of urban dads on this discussion? |
Yet I am a mom to a young adult with severe social anxiety? Yep, I am the problem that cause her to lie! |
I think people often start with the minimalist explanation for privacy reasons until forced into going in to more details. If you're sick, do you ring work and say "i'm feeling unwell" or do you start with "I've got severe diarrhea with bleeding and cramps and am rushing to the toilet every 20 minutes?' |

I really don't understand all the controversy here.
1) The reason the players get paid lots of money, is because of the tv contracts and sponsors, and making interviews mandatory to give them their money's worth is entirely reasonable. 2) Mental health is a serious thing, and if a player fells they are not mentally capable of playing and fulfilling their media obligations, then they should withdraw, and take care of themselves, just like they would for a physical injury. |
Anxiety is an emotion. Everyone has it. This professional victimhood garbage is just comical at this point. This is all about Nike trying to make this ugly boring brat marketable. It's 100% fake and orchestrated. All of it. |
No. 1) players are supposed to do interviews on game day and if they don’t they get fines. No problem, that’s the rules and she agreed to pay the fine. 2) if organizations get frustrated because the player plays under the fine rule with no problem they should not threaten to expel them from the tournament. Don’t Change the rules . |
Let her pay the fines and shut the f up. |
