She’s a snake- ran off several great teachers at TC because they wouldn’t kiss the ring. As far as she was concerned, SHE was principal and really got bent out of shape if people went to the actual principal about things. She plays up this “rah rah I’m all for Alexandria” routine but then conveniently leaves out that she tried to get a superintendent job in WV a few years ago after getting busted back down to school level from central office.

The only person she’s watching out for is herself.

LOL. Sounds like you're one of the parents whose kid did something wrong and found out she enforces the rules. Not everyone in ACPS caves when a white mommy or daddy complains. NP.

I think it is shameful that so often on the Board, people attack posters with legitimate criticism of ACPS administrators as being white parents complaining about not being able to exercise white privilege. It is like these people are mini Hutchings who cries racism when he is legitimately criticized. ACPS has many problems and white parents have as much right as anyone to try to address them (and such problems usually cross racial lines anyway - like how horrible ACPS virtual school program was last year). The same argument was made above in support of Johnson.

LOL, you will be surprised to hear that I am white. Nice try, though. I am just calling it like I see it. Although why you think that white parents should be able "exercise white privilege" is beyond me. And Hutchings should be talking about racism because he is a victim of it here. I am glad he speaks out and won't allow it to go unnoticed.

You either need a remedial course is reading comprehension or you are deliberately taking my quote out of context. I did not say white parents should be able to exercise white privilege. I said the following:

(1) white parents, like any parents, should be able to raise concerns about the myriad problems with ACPS, and

(2) it it is shameful that how repeatedly on this thread, white parents who raise concerns about ACPS are categorically falsely dismissed as cry babies who have put in their place for trying to exercise white privilege.

I am not saying Hutchings has never been the victim of racism or that some white parent may not have at time tried to use wrongly use white privilege to get their way. But, I know first hand how Preann Johnson had ignored significant parent concerns and up thread she was commended for putting white parents in their place despite the harm she causes to students.

Fancy footwork but we still all know what you mean ... Racism and bigotry are awfully hard to mask, aren't they!?! You still get points for trying though. Even though you weren't successful.

I don’t give a frack if you and the other Hutchings apologists here call me a racist. Parents need to be able to advocate for their children and to push ACPS / Hutchings to actually provide a free and appropriate education to all students.

+1 The Hutchings apologists and the '95 Prom King himself are so threatened by parents advocating for their children.

Whoa. Are you kidding me with that statement?

Even if her child is a FARM student, she pays taxes just like you and me. EVERYONE pays taxes in Virginia, in some form or another. If a person isn't employed, he or she still pays taxes at the grocery store or other places, even if a person doesn't have a mortgage and rents he or she still pays some form of property tax through rent, etc.

Your bigotry and racism know no bounds. You are proving what we already know people say about Alexandria. You are disgusting and despicable.

Although I guess it is better that you wear your racism and bigotry on your sleeve rather than keep it hidden so there is that ... Jeez.

Which taxes pay for FARM students receiving free or reduced fee school breakfasts and lunches then, pray tell? Inquiring minds want to know!

I believe it is federally funded: https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/child-nutrition-programs/national-school-lunch-program.

Also, I agree that whether or not a commenter’s child qualified for FARM is irrelevant to whether their comments have validity on the issues being discussed here. The poor virtual program offered by Hutchings/ACPS affected many students, including FARMs students.

You are assuming that a woman whose child qualifies for free lunch doesn't work and therefore pay Federal income tax. Really? Hhhmmm. I am not sure who is coming off worse here, you or the racist jerk she is responding to.

Our kids actually had a great DL experience in ACPS. We would happily do it again. Their teachers (mostly) did a phenomenal job. There were one or two phoning it in but the rest were rock stars as far as my husband and I are concerned.

I said many, not all but I am your child had a good experience. My child did not and fell behind further in math because the instruction was so bad (not necessarily the teacher’s fault but rather she did not seem to have resources to adjust to the virtual environment). Apart from the social emotional stress caused by the poor virtual learning program, I will be interested to see if there is a noticeable downward trend in SOL scores.

Uhhh, come stand in front of George Mason on any given school morning and watch the PG folks drive in and drop their kids. Residency fraud and free lunch to boot!

But thats racist, right?

Simpletons.

“Lower” income persons with dependents don’t pay income tax even if working, they actually get tax credits (money) back. All workers (except certain ministers) pay into FICA, 7.65%.
