That's true. I'm not sure, but I'm inferring that she's opposed to the Integrity group on Facebook. And yet again, who gives a shit. Reasonable people are allowed to have different opinions without being vilified. I may strongly believe that kids need to go back to school, in person, with teachers, in person - but I can absolutely understand that others feel differently. And that's okay. I happen to support the Integrity group - but the situation with the schools is a totally different shit show - and someone like Bridget will be great for our kids. |
I was trying to figure out what the reference to Bridget’s confrontational Facebook posting was about since I have never seen that and have had good interactions with her even if we disagree. If it is fighting with integrity group members that seems to me to be a point in her favor. Really, I have to believe she would better that Nolan who just accused the City Council members who voted against her position on SROs as unqualified (even if they were duly elected to be on City Council and vote on police and school budget issues). |
Bridget IS vilifying people she disagrees with when she mocks the Integrity group on her friend's Facebook page. Then she turns around and posts on the Integrity page to try to drum up support for the Open ACPS rally. I don't have a problem with either group. But it makes her a hypocrite. There are already plenty of those on the SB. |
No idea but he has really young kids. That could be a factor. |
I’m an observer in the Integrity Group (had concerns about Seminary) but a lot in that group have gone off the deep end with their conspiracy theories. I’ve never seen Bridget post on there and always found her to be very responsive and approachable in another group she manages (Buy Nothing). I would consider supporting her, but still just learning about these candidates and starting to research. This election isn’t partisan so no primary, right? I do thing change is desperately needed and ACPS school board didn’t hold Hutchings/leadership accountable this year. |
She said something on a friends facebook page? This just sounds so middle school, if middle school kids used facebook. Was it any worse than the trouncing people in our city get from those in the Integrity group every day? I'm a member, and it really seems like the sole purpose of that group is to create angry memes, yell at everyone in office, harass public servants on-line, etc. Anyone in that group being offended by social media posts about them should do some looking within. You can't spend a year name-calling and then get offended if people don't like it. You gotta own the disruption you're causing - that's the point after all - isn't it? FWIW - I support the Integrity group, and much of what they are doing. But your post makes you a hypocrite too. |
I am trying to stay out of the fray so I don't know much about these groups. What is the main focus of the Integrity group? |
It started out on Facebook in opposition to the Seminary Road road diet. But it's kind of morphed in the last year to more of an angry meme, mock the city council members they don't like, make fun of people on city staff type of thing. I mean, it was probably always a bit like that - but it's currently only mean spirited and juvenile? The only people that seem to post are angry people that like to say angry things. There's no real productive discussion that happens - just "WE HATE EVERYTHING" type of vibe. It's too bad, because at the beginning it really did seem like it good be used to see some needed change, but they've lost a lot of credibility with their behavior. |
Thank you. I agree with them then about the Seminary Road thing but I am not at all into mocking people publicly and other stuff like you've mentioned. Thank you for your assessment! |
I agree with that assessment about the Integrity group. There are about 20 highly active people who complain to each other about everything, call city council and city staff names, blame Justin Wilson for every traffic backup in the city, etc. They also don’t seem to realize many of their views are fringe and not held by the majority. Waiting for when Wilson gets re-elected Mayor and they claim the vote was rigged, that he paid for votes, or some other nonsense.
One of the more vocal and obnoxious women in the group is an administrator for FCPS and I find her online conduct horrifying and offensive. |
I wouldn't be so sure Wilson is getting re-eleected. I'm not one of his haters but there are many out there. Once you step outside of Del Ray his support plummets. |
Abdel-Rahman Elnoubi has my support. He was the former PTA president at Tucker and runs meetings in a very efficient and organized manner. |
I agree with this. The last primary was relatively close and the passions for and against each candidate are extremely high. The political environment in Alexandria is very toxic. |
I'm in C.
Why on earth would I vote for someone to be on the school board who has her kids in PRIVATE SCHOOL?! |
Personally I’d be more inclined to question the good judgment of a candidate who kept his/her kids in ACPS this year if they had the resources to provide other options. Wanting the best for your own kids doesn’t make you less capable of trying to improve things for others. |
