Alexandria School Board Candidates

School starts at Tucker on Monday and they still don't have the risk mitigation protocols available to parents. I wish her luck if she is running on ACPS' track record the last 18 months. Seems like a nice lady, definitely has the experience as an administrator in ACPS for 30 years and ACPS parent of 5 kids. https://www.alxnow.com/2021/08/06/former-acps-administrator-tammy-ignacio-says-experience-matters-in-school-board-bid/

Never thought I would see the word “nice” associated with Tammy Ignacio😂😂😂

She’s a snake- ran off several great teachers at TC because they wouldn’t kiss the ring. As far as she was concerned, SHE was principal and really got bent out of shape if people went to the actual principal about things. She plays up this “rah rah I’m all for Alexandria” routine but then conveniently leaves out that she tried to get a superintendent job in WV a few years ago after getting busted back down to school level from central office.

The only person she’s watching out for is herself.

LOL. Sounds like you're one of the parents whose kid did something wrong and found out she enforces the rules. Not everyone in ACPS caves when a white mommy or daddy complains. NP.

I think it is shameful that so often on the Board, people attack posters with legitimate criticism of ACPS administrators as being white parents complaining about not being able to exercise white privilege. It is like these people are mini Hutchings who cries racism when he is legitimately criticized. ACPS has many problems and white parents have as much right as anyone to try to address them (and such problems usually cross racial lines anyway - like how horrible ACPS virtual school program was last year). The same argument was made above in support of Johnson.

I just read through 21 pages of this thread. My conclusion? I'm so glad my children are attending private school.

LOL, you will be surprised to hear that I am white. Nice try, though. I am just calling it like I see it. Although why you think that white parents should be able "exercise white privilege" is beyond me. And Hutchings should be talking about racism because he is a victim of it here. I am glad he speaks out and won't allow it to go unnoticed.

NP but sometimes I just like to read through stuff like this when I'm bored to enjoy the drama. And it's good to keep track of what's going on in our city.

You either need a remedial course is reading comprehension or you are deliberately taking my quote out of context. I did not say white parents should be able to exercise white privilege. I said the following:

(1) white parents, like any parents, should be able to raise concerns about the myriad problems with ACPS, and

(2) it it is shameful that how repeatedly on this thread, white parents who raise concerns about ACPS are categorically falsely dismissed as cry babies who have put in their place for trying to exercise white privilege.

I am not saying Hutchings has never been the victim of racism or that some white parent may not have at time tried to use wrongly use white privilege to get their way. But, I know first hand how Preann Johnson had ignored significant parent concerns and up thread she was commended for putting white parents in their place despite the harm she causes to students.

$3M could be put to a lot of use by ACPS. Of course they would probably squander it on an equally useless project.

A ton of CARES money has already gone to ACPS. They wasted a lot of it on plexiglass barriers, which were used only a handful of times last year and have now been scrapped (since they were useless anyway).

Fancy footwork but we still all know what you mean ... Racism and bigotry are awfully hard to mask, aren't they!?! You still get points for trying though. Even though you weren't successful.
