Which taxes pay for FARM students receiving free or reduced fee school breakfasts and lunches then, pray tell? Inquiring minds want to know!
I believe it is federally funded: https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/child-nutrition-programs/national-school-lunch-program. Also, I agree that whether or not a commenter’s child qualified for FARM is irrelevant to whether their comments have validity on the issues being discussed here. The poor virtual program offered by Hutchings/ACPS affected many students, including FARMs students.
Our kids actually had a great DL experience in ACPS. We would happily do it again. Their teachers (mostly) did a phenomenal job. There were one or two phoning it in but the rest were rock stars as far as my husband and I are concerned.
I said many, not all but I am your child had a good experience. My child did not and fell behind further in math because the instruction was so bad (not necessarily the teacher’s fault but rather she did not seem to have resources to adjust to the virtual environment). Apart from the social emotional stress caused by the poor virtual learning program, I will be interested to see if there is a noticeable downward trend in SOL scores.
