This should be done in conjunction with voter ID requirements. Until then expect low Democratic support of voter ID laws. |
Many states. But not the ones imposing the voter restrictions. |
The Dominion system, ironically, is very safe. It is merely scanning and counting. It is the ES&S systems that are hackable and manipulable, and yet, we don't hear a word out of the GOP about those. They use them in SC (Hi Lindsay) and Kentucky (Hi Mitch) where there are plenty of voting irregularities that we don't hear about. There should always be paper back-ups for audits. Dominion provides those, ES&S doesn't. And the way mail-in voting works, it is consistent with what you have described. We don't hear about fraud votes or issues in Utah, Washington, Oregon or Hawaii, where mail-in voting has been the norm for years. We should use their protocols more universally. |

This! Now someone is actually on a DC Covid shot thread— rambling on about the need for voter ID requirements. ‘Cause something something. |

And when it’s offered, what will democrats use an excuse after that? Because we both know they will. |
That’s an interesting dilemma for most libs though. They want a vaccine passport, and many support showing ID to get vaccinated. But at the same time they say that showing an ID to vote is racist because black people can’t get IDs (for some reason?) and it disenfranchises them. So it’s ok to keep black people from getting vaccinated because they lack- which might save their life, BUT they don’t want them to have ID to vote. This seems really bizarre to me. Can someone explain this dichotomy? |
Not PP -- I'm not sure they're lucid. |
Not sure they need an excuse. They have more voters, so they would just need to get their constituents out to vote. What would GOP use as an excuse? This is why I find the Dems dumb. If they were smart they'd turn the issue on its head and be gung ho for voter id's and start up a free ID program. Then GOP would have no more excuses. Alas, Dems argue the dumb side of this issue, while the dirty GOP out foxes them. I really hate both parties, they are either insidious or incompetent. |
There are plenty of people who are legally in the voter rolls who would have trouble accessing a legal ID to have to show when they vote. Figure out how to get them a legal ID and then it is fine to require it to obtain a ballot. |
Some of us would actually be kind of thrilled if Mitch had to prove that all of his votes were legal. Lol: Be careful watch you wish for, And please, share your plan for ensuring that everyone has free valid ID. If you don’t have an actual plan, it’s just blowing smoke. |
So your reason for opposing a free ID program in conjunction with voter ID laws is that Democrats will complain about something else? That's the best you've got?
|
| If you are really an immigrant OP- spend more time learning about the US instead of complaining + biting the hand that feeds you. Or, go back to where you came from ingrate. |
I agree. We're stuck between the craven and the callow. Turning this thing on its head and proposing a national.voter id, which would also expand registration, seems like a no-brainer. Instead they waste their time trying to explain the nuances of getting an id. |
