They might not truly have this background but the point is, the way they dress and live is a good representation of the style, which is what OP is asking about right? |
Hysterical! |
If you think splashing your "life" (hint: this is all an act for them) across social media is the WASP aesthetic, you are deeply off course. |
They are not quite right, though. It looks like they are wearing costumes- WASP drag or WASP cosplay instead of real WASP. I grew up in Rhode Island - where they live - and they always strike me like people going to a WASP-themed dress up party, not real WASP. I think there's something just a little too store bought about it all, if that makes any sense. |
^ And let me add, I am not a WASP at all. Jewish. But I went to prep school with WASPs and had to sort of learn the look. The 80s/90s version of it, anyway. |
Yes - none of these are quite right. |
Well yes because the purpose of their social media feeds isn't just to provide a scrapbook of their lives, it's to sell stuff and make a commission off it. A real preppie person with generations of family money wouldn't feel the need to do this in the first place. But getting past the cleaned up/glammed up version they're doing to push product, I think they have the clothes and some of the backdrops down. Personally, I liked them more a few years ago when they were recreating 90s J Crew catalogues. They seemed more down to earth back then. I don't really care for the highly saturated, obviously edited photos they post now. |
OK! To me, they don't quite get real WASP style - but they're close. Some of the models/friends they have in their pics have it down. But I do appreciate their hustle - they seem to work hard at this whole thing and good for them for doing it. |
Wants to be a WASP. Thinks adding blue bows and gingham makes her WASPy |
I think she looks cute and dress nicely. Why so much hate? |
Why are there SO many WASP poseurs in America?
Every MC-UMC who is moderately attractive and moderately rich dresses in a way she thinks will give off a WASP vibe. Its gross but also funny. Just be yourself. |
It's a little precious, I agree. They wear all the tropes at one time too...the ll bean boot, the plaid blanket, the baby in a ralph lauren sweater etc. It's a lot. |
Why on earth do you think they trying to be WASP? I am Jewish and I wear jcrew and dress similarly, am I trying to be WASP? Not at all. Get over yourself, nobody wants to be Protestant. |
This is gorilla marketing. The whole thing is a marketing campaign. |
