Just rewatched Crash Laning last episode and I do think that poster was correct that there was a time leap forward from the time they met at the concert until we see them in the house. I do think they end up living in that house together due to the pictures and how comfortable the house feels. It definitely feels LIved in. I don’t know how many years of past but I assume they both live there permanently now.
This ending makes me so much happier than the way I interpreted it the first time. |
I'd like to think this, and I won't argue. But I felt that if they lived their year round, we'd see a kid or two running around. So I took it as they meet regularly, but not permanently. |
Perhaps. I'm not sure how long between the concert and the house but I suppose at least a couple of years. So in theory there could be a kid. The fact that her assistants mentioned why do you keep going to Switzerland? Made me think she also visited there quite frequently before moving. If someone only goes once a year, why would you ask where they go frequently? She goes so much that they think she has a long -term. Love interest there. I wouldn't guess that if someone visited a place once a year. So I honestly believe they meet their more frequently throughout the year and then eventually moved. |
Not to beat a dead horse but it’s pretty obvious that there’s no way his parents were going to live much longer so I believe with the time hop they’re dead and he’s living in Switzerland full-time. I also believe Alberto is alive and living in Russia,
I never put weight in her saying she enjoys those two weeks when she was talking to the concert guy as that is the only time they ever see each other. I think I’m having a house at the end implies they live there together. If not then they could’ve just had them dancing or listening to the piano or standing on a bridge. But they purposely chose a house with pictures of them throughout the years signifying this is their home. |
So he would have had to defect in your scenarios? |
After his parents died he had no reason to stay. Or his dad could give him a post outside the country. Dan seemed to come and go from the country as she pleased. It's not unreasonable to think ri Juon hyeok could do the same. |
The beauty of the ending is it can be whatever you want it to be. I do think there was a lot of symbolism throughout the show and do think that they chose a house at the end for a reason.
Some people don't want him to have defected and that's fine. You can believe that, but I do think the ending has enough clues to point at their both living in Switzerland. |
Also he has a Chinese passport and ID. He can come and go easily I presume. Especially with his Dad in his position. When his mom and dad dies he likely leaves. |
Yeah. Good point |
I don't recall the Chinese passport -- what was the story there? |
He had a fake Chinese passport to get around. |
The passport was what he used after the Cheig Gang shooting when talking to the cops. It showed he was a Chinese national. Given the power his dad has, I think it is absurd to think that they would not find a way to be together outside of North Korea frequently if not more permanently. Without defecting.
I agree the house at the end was likely a symbol or hint. The show was very good at things like that. Otherwise they would have been at a hotel. |
"Rain or Shine" was recently added on Netflix (they changed the name from what it's called elsewhere) - it's a really sad but hopeful, beautiful story about survivors of a real event that happened in Korea when a mall collapsed. I've watched this show twice (rare for me), it's so good.
Search WWW is a fun romance - lighter, overall, and the leads are great and have awesome chemistry. Recommend this one, too. |
You can't just take everything the lead character say as the 100% truth of what's happening in the future. Remember when Ri was pretending to be lost in the forest and Serii said you have no direction right. But his troops that he has the best direction of anyone.
Same here. Everything her assistants said about her visiting Switzerland often and having a love interest there. Dan and RjH's moms talking about the lovess of their children's life and how they shouldn't get married to each other because they love other people. We already saw his parents not care about him going to the South, just happy he is safe. His mom could see how much him and Seri love each other. Seri had no idea his father was important. Loved him for who he was. His mom saw that she brought back the life to him when she said that she was happy SeRi thought if him as kind and caring. She saw them lie to protect each other from his dad initially. His dad saw him CRY over Leaving this woman. You know he has been discharged from the military which would make him able to travel much more freely. Especially if he kept his Chinese passport and ID. Then the ending with a house? All of this shows the viewer they are together. Her throw away line not visiting a concert for 2 weeks a year was not supposed to carry the weight. People put on it. So other people going to that statement but look at nothing else that so obviously points to a different outcome. |
I think the writers wanted to give them a happy ending, but they were constrained by real world politics. It's no joke to say that RJH defecting to the South or to Switzerland would have caused problems with N.Korea. Look how Sony was hacked after they made that movie with Seth Rogan. |
