And I’m the pp who said +1 — I am 0% Korean too, totally reading the subtitles. Can’t multitask while watching!

Because This Life Is My First
Tunnel

So, no romances here?

Huh? These all have romantic elements. The Reply series are about friendship and family and growing up, but they all have a major "first love" element throughout which is the primary emphasis by the end. Because This Life Is My First is pretty much just a romance. Prison Playbook and Tunnel both have romance for sure, but it's not the driving force of the drama.

Also not Asian, I just like K-dramas and K-Pop. My Korean friends think it’s cute.

Do your Korean friends watch with the subtitles? I'm jealous of those who can watch without having to read.

If you enjoy Asian dramas, Viki.com (also an app) has dramas and movies from different Asian countries. A lot of content, especially the new shows are restricted for a period of time unless you have a paid subscription, but there is plenty of free content.

I watch BTS Run and Bon Voyage on Weverse. Do those count as K-dramas, they're pretty funny.

I just finished Crash Landing on You last night, stayed up so late but worth it. You all were right - it was soo good! The leads were my favorite but I absolutely loved the soldiers and the village women. The North Korean soldier who loved South Korean dramas was my favorite! I wish it could be longer than 16 episodes. I think I will rewatch b/c sometimes I missed a couple things while trying to read the subtitles.

I also didn't know the main lead (Hyun Bin) on Crash Landing is also a lead on Memories of the Alhambra (also on Netflix). I need to check out that series too.

I liked it more the second time around and could really appreciate the 4 soldiers and townswomen.

I tried our Alhambra and just couldn't get into in -- maybe I'm just not ready to see Hyun Bin in such a different role.
Similar recs to Crash Landing appreciated!

So after watching this series, I discovered that they actually have a BB*Q Chicken/ Korean chicken place franchise here in Virginia (located in Falls Church). This is the chicken place that they show the characters eating in several times. Yeah, good marketing.

I know what I'm going to do this weekend - eat fried chicken and watch this series again.
