Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash (per TMZ)

Pointing out his faults and questioning why people are treating him as someone he wasn’t is not “demonizing” him. It’s telling a balanced account of who he is.

Yes. People screw up. And yes people are often portrayed positively in obituaries. But give the over the top statements about him (hero etc.) it’s absolutely fair, and more accurate, to give the full picture.

Nobody cares about this site at all. (No offense to whoever owns it, but cmon)

We’re talking about mainstream media who is trashing the guy when he was still smoldering in the plane. That’s uncalled for.

And yes, to many kids, whether you want to believe it or not, he was a hero to many millennials and gen y people growing up. Including myself. He was an inspirational figure for many youths who didn’t have a path of where they were going.

Even this guy, a YouTube political figure, who gave a strong indication of how much Kobe was an inspiration for him at 31 years old.

Some of you wine moms read one or two articles and make a judgement call on a guy. We need to stop this. That family not only lost their father, but their sister, at the same time. Let time pass before we all cast judgement.

How much time? Do tell.

Not literally a few hours after the mans death.

Kobe commuted by helicopter. Just like you commute by car.

If you had 600 million dollars, how many parks would you build?

If only there was a way to check what a basketball player’s name is ...

Proving that all Americans look the same to the British.

*African-Americans.

They literally look nothing alike.

There are a lot of people, with a lot of money, who do little to nothing for poor people.

And no one at BBC wondered why in all the footage, Kobe Bryant had JAMES on his game shirts?

I’ve been looking at the pictures, and the video of the flight path.
Can someone way in that has experience either with the geography of this part of California, or traveling by helicopter – which is obviously different than traveling by airplane.
Why would the helicopter turn to the south, when I believe they were going somewhere north west of where the plane crash occurred.
Also curious: it seems they were instructed to fly along a highway, but then ended up crashing in the hillside. It seems very fortunate the helicopter didn’t land in the middle of the highway, or in a neighborhood.

We immediately sent a staffer to the home of the deceased to try to break news gently -- we didn't make it there before the media.it was likely different in the 1950s, but not in past 20 years.

In my home state we lost a senator when a helicopter collided with his plane. The helicopter accident occurred over an elementary school in Lower Merion Township, where Kobe was from.

Whoa. Such foreshadowing for his future.

Really can't tell if serious

I was actually there when it happened. I grew up here but my Dad is from Narberth. I was up visiting him and walking to his bakery to work and I heard the explosion. You could see the smoke rising in the sky. We didn’t know what it was until we heard it on the news. It was Senator Heinz, yes? It was awful.

which is why they still have a lot of money...

from what I heard it was cloudy and the pilot essentially flew into the side of the mountain, low clouds/fog

Yes, Senator Heinz. I was living in Ardmore (home to Lower Merion High School, Kobe's alma mater, although I didn't go there). It was awful, and children died in that aviation accident as well.

I wonder if LeBron James is going to take over ownership of Mamba youth sports facilities?

No. Why would he? I would hope Vanessa eventually runs Mamba and the other businesses.

Same thing applies to car drivers on the road, sailors on the water and hikers on the trail.
