Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

For the careful observer, one can divine a lot from the rosters. For sure, talent, as I agree that by high school the 100 or so serious laxers in each grade are known by the other players, parents, coaches. Etc. But beyond that, it’s interesting to see what schools are represented on each team, whether there appears to be a feed between one or two particular schools, and how well represented public schools are or are not represented. Movement is also interesting. For example, in the past, most people left their club to go to Madlax. Now the reverse seems to be true. I’ve also never seen kids from VA play Next Level. That seems to be changing and telling. Bottom line is that if you are a crazy lax parent (which almost by definition we all are), rosters are something we all pay attention to.

The reason VA kids don’t play Next Level is the American Legion Bridge.

Yeah, screw that. It's painful enough driving into MD for HoCo games and tournaments on the weekends.

Another reason Va kids don’t play NL...DCE

Have most kids already been notified if they made the team or not? How many do the typically take on a roster?

Many boys have been notified that they made the team, but not all. The coaches give short time frames in which to confirm installment and pay the first installment of fees, and then depending on who accepts, they extend another round of offers. Tryouts wrapped up yesterday and this process should continue to tomorrow night, and possibly to Wednesday. Generally VLC keeps a smaller roster than Madlax. Last year my son's team started with around 20 and added a couple during the year to get 22.

23s and older will have slightly larger rosters

Yes, and maybe 20.

There aren't many MD kids on VLC. Might not even be any at all. For the same reason - the logistics sucks.

2 VA kids (1 VLC) made a NL team. I'll be curious if they are on the roster this fall.

Not sure it's right to name the team and possibly out the family. The point is there were dozens of kids at the tryouts and only a handful came from VA and the 2 extended offers may not accept. The river and rush hour traffic puts a hard stop to most families decision making.

This was most likely a HS team and for one season it makes sense if a player wants to get on a MD based team. There are one to two N.VA players on Hawks and Crabs as well. VLC has seemed to go all in on N.VA players so I think NL and VLC are not really competing for the same players. Going forward, VLC seems to get most it's players from NVYLL teams in western Fairfax and Loudoun. It seems unlikely that many of these parents will want to drive to MD for lacrosse.

Don't need to be curious for long - rosters will get posted for these teams. Good luck to all that tried out and hope they all found a team.

Hope VLC made cuts this year. The club is on the downswing in part because they don’t have the heat to cut people/
