| I don't know if the club is on the downswing based on the results. There are teams in every club that are strong and some that are weak. I think some of their teams have done pretty well and some just aren't getting the talent at tryouts. I think sometimes a crappy car can still get you to work. If they aren't drawing better talent the coaching has to ratchet up to get the best performance you can. It looks like some changes happened on that front, the 22s look like they added Dico to the coaching staff. If he can't get the results, I don't think he'd hesitate to cut his way to a smaller team where the talent is more concentrated. I'm going to have to watch some of the 22s games just for the amusement factor from the Dico comments in the coaches box. |
It will some time until rosters are posted but there have already been cuts on a few teams, as well as new additions. |
If FOGO really left, the remaining parents should ask for a refund. He’s not all that but playing without him you might as well just hand the ball to the opposition and hope your goalie can work his magic. LSM will be missed for sure. But the other kid who left for another vA club, good riddance. All you did was try to play hero ball and more often than not you just lost the ball. |
Ouch. Those are teenage boys you are outing. |
Slow your roll Chicken Littles - rumors are rumors and the sky isn't falling yet |
I think they just haven't updated the site because the Twitter feed shows a number of 2020 commits. https://twitter.com/vlclax If parents are bailing at 2021s that seems crazy but I guess at some level we are all crazy so perhaps its the lacrosse parent normal. |
| VLC’s brand of lacrosse these days has been more about solo rather than team play. I’m not sure if it’s a player or a coaching issue or both. Don’t take my word for it. Check them out at their next tourney. Compare their style to DCE or Crabs or any LI team. |
| Reading this thread and the Next Level thread it is apparent that some 2021 dad is upset because a player took his son’s spot or his son moved to a new team. Either way this seems to be specific to one grievance. Both VLC and Next Level are good programs with bright futures at the younger ages. Do t let these posts fool you. |
| We were with 2 other clubs before finding VLC (didn't enjoy these clubs: too much competitiveness btw parents and tournaments weren't particularly good). VLC was a great experience, very good coaches, good kids & good tournaments, really enjoyed our time (son picked high D3 program over low D1). |
| Agreed. VLC is a welcome respite from the greed and politics seemingly inherent with so many other clubs. |
You’re kidding about DCE 2021, right? It’s bush league holdback hero ball - some kids have 1 move based on a temporary size or speed advantage. Hero parents get pissed off and talk sh!t in public or online if other kids actually get playing time doing the right things |
| Although I agree DCE 2023 does things right - they look like a LI team, great ball movement, etc |
$65 tryout fee. |
| At end of day, pick a club you and, more importantly, your kid will enjoy, learn, and PLAY. Other clubs are better talent-wise than VLC, particularly in some class years (this year, I liked watching DCE '21 & Next Level '20 & VLC '20; Blackwolf & MadLax, compared to their previous teams, not as strong in these years). But these clubs, other than Blackwolf, are mostly in same recruiting tournaments. |
Social Media guy is catching up with 2020 commits. Website guy is still an another time zone. Would be an impressive list when compare with most of the rest of the country. But in this area, compared to NL and ML, a step behind in terms of quality and quantity of the schools. |
