They can't see it. |
| Actually, the parents seem to be supporting the teachers. And the principal seems to be shitting on the teachers. As a teacher myself, I'd like that kind of support from the parent community. |
unless the teachers are just trying to tell the parents what they want to hear, to appease them and because the parents are batshit crazy. |
| Kudos to the parents for supporting the teachers on this. Haycock parents aren't perfect but - like most parents - they care about their kid's education and are involved. The principal is tone-def - he is in way over his head on this, and really his lack of experience as a principal is to blame. FCPS should pay attention - Haycock is not the only amazing elementary school in NoVa - no one is saying that. But it is consistently among the top elementary schools - clearly they were doing something right. FCPA should cherish that. To upset the applecart based on a flimsy report is questionable, and to do it unilaterally is egregious. I do hope he stands down or is replaced. |

Sounds like Zuluaga and Pearson supported the changes. Guess it’s one way to shrink the achievement gap in Region 2. |
| looks like the principal finally came to his senses... |
| looks like he is going to stand down. great result - for everyone involved. great job PTA. |

Dear Haycock Community,
This past Tuesday, April 3, at our monthly PTA meeting, I shared part of our academic vision for Haycock for the 2018-2019 school year. The meeting covered topics such as the implementation of best practices and a discussion surrounding departmentalization. Upon reflection of the feedback that I heard from everyone present, I believe there is a need to pause the process of changing departmentalization for next school year. We plan to get additional input and feedback from all stakeholders--staff, parents, and community members--over the course of the 2018-2019 school year. Going forward, we pledge to continue to involve the entire staff in the decision-making process and we also pledge to increase communication to the families around future ideas for our wonderful school. Please know and trust that we are committed to providing a warm, respectful, and supportive atmosphere for each member of our school family and we will continue to share and highlight the great practices in place here at Haycock. Sincerely, Mr. Jereme Donnelly |
| Wow. Sounds like a good result! I hope those teachers stay. |
| woot woot! |
| The teachers are not going to stay. As the one teacher said, this was just one of many issues. Morale is low. The bigger issue is him and until that is fixed, sadly we are going to lose many more. I hope the PTA continues to inform the superintendent regarding the bigger issues here. |
| So you can't bribe the principal, and you want him removed! I hope he stands his ground for his own sake! |
Sounds like you can’t read. The principal already backed down. The only questions are whether that boosts teacher morale and whether he’s lost so much face that his departure is inevitable. |
You weren't happy with his first email and you aren't happy with his second email. Never happy. |
