I heard from another parent that Haycock Elementary is planning to change how they structure their classes. Principal driven. This is going to be a disaster. The practice of departmentalizing or whatever you call it, when teachers in each grade teach different levels of a subject and move between the different classes, more or less what made Haycock the academic powerhouse that it is, that's getting shelved. Awful. Any truth? Anyone gone through the similar situation? Help!

| The academic powerhouse? EYEROLL |
| What grade is your child? It's news to me. |
| Heard about that. Haycock is supposed to be a good school. |
| Specialization works great in schools. Is that what you mean? |
+2.

| I don’t know what you are talking about but do feel the new principal’s mission seems to be to lower Haycock’s academic performance. |

| OP here. DD going into 5th. They said that rescuers won’t specialize anymore and that apparently lots are planning to leave- this is terrible. |
Teacher, not rescuer, but need both! |
| I can’t remember when the specialization started — maybe 4th? Are you all saying it won’t be happening in the upper grades anymore? What is the stated reason ? |
Principal’s idea. Teachers and parents very unhappy. |
