| pp I think I love you!! This thread is all so funny...hopefully all these kids have a shot despite their parents being awful. |
| Yeah, funny how many real f**king jerks some kids have for parents. Hope they don't lose that pilot's license 'cause that helicopter gonna crash! |
Good one. Love it! I live in MoCo and sadly you are correct on all counts. |
Funny, these parents don' t see themselves as the awful, people they are. I pray for their children. |

Look at it from the opposite perspective: Live in DC, sent DD to DCSP until HS, then HS at Madeira. DD would invite Madeira pals home over the weekend, and approximately 50% of the VA girls' parents (but none of the parents of girls from MD or overseas) would say, "No." Far too dangerous to go to DC. Had a long chat with parents from VA who said they *never* drive into DC under any circumstances, for any reason. Far too dangerous.
Sheesh |
| Sorry, "sent DD to DCPS" |
I fear for the future of mankind after reading some of the ignorant comments on this thread. And I'm not even joking. |
| One of the main reasons people live n dc is that they don't want to venture it the nightmare traffic in va. They don't think u r inferior, they just don't want to drive to nova for a play date. Who wants to spend hours driving around all day? You want to do that, that is your choice. Bt people who live in cp or WP or gtown can opt out of that lifestyle by living in dc and don't want u dragging them into nova traffic. |
Hush. Its enough already. Get a life. |
Your DD and her friends are welcome to visit my DD. We live in Brookland. |
That's an odd group of VA parents Most of the ones I know drive to DC for work everyday. |
| I agree..We are in DC all the time. Many parents of kids who live in VA and use privates in DC or VA..used to live in the District but left because of taxes..not crime |

WOW! After the first page of weeding through the nastiness in this thread, I thought I'd just jump back to OP's question. While I can not answer the question, I will say that at her high school, my DC also got the "socially less than" treatment for living in NOVA.
For the record, we live in Virginia because our careers are in Virginia. No social climbing was attempted, DC attended a nice, but non-prestigous upper NW private high school, so we were really surprised at the snooty attitude and assumptions made about us. We don't like our local public schools and the emphasis on silly testing, we found a nice private for K-8 in Virginia, but for high school there was no suburban fit. So it was into the district DC commuted. As a transplant, and a die hard liberal, I do not have a lot of love or loyalty for NOVA, but we have bloomed where we were planted (not a mcmansion) and find the snobbery both silly and sad. |
| Hmm is anyone else experiencing problems with the images on this blog loading? I'm trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it's the blog. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. pompy do wody http://almanach.biz/dom-i-ogrod/al-ko-kober-sp-z-o-o-aeratory,s,777/ |
I love it! A "did hard liberal" who abandons public schools. I live in VA too, and I like it. I don't get where people come off thinking hat where one lives, goes to school, etc. has anything to do with social climbing, etc. However, I am happy to live in VA, have Congressional representation and have my representative legislate for DC residents. |
