can you not read. why are churchs asking for donations while the vatican is one of the richest organizations in the world. the vatican has its own personal army of mercs (the swiss guard), not to mention churches here dont have to pay taxes. so why doesnt the vatican fund the catholic churches here rather than passing a basket arounfd?

Can have a moratorium on religion-talk on DCUM for a few weeks? There is somebody who starts a new thread to bash religion every time the latest thread dies. These threads serve absolutely no purpose, except maybe to people who hate religion and feel a need to insult believers in public places.

But it the "purpose" is for believers to explain why they believe, and for non-believers to explain why they don't believe, then we seem incapable of having adult conversations on this. So why not give it a rest?

Not only does this post exemplify the ugliness of DCUM posters when they have the opportunity to discuss certain subjects - but this type of poster is driving me off DCUM.

Seriously, why would I want to hang out in a group where one of the people discussing schools with me is also capable of posting the trash above? I don't want to be talking about public or private schools with this person, regardless of what school experiences they have to offer, period. Clearly this person has no self control, no judgment, and a closed mind. So now I wonder if this a$$ is offering her poor judgment and self control on any other subjects here today, and how will I know which posts are hers and need to be tossed in the bin? Uggghhhh....

Have you read this thread? There was very little "bashing", just explaining and discussing. The poster rambling on about the Catholic church seems to have missed the whole point of this thread. We weren't discussing Catholicism. It's more broad, as in what our thoughts are on the existence of a higher power.

The whole thread was mostly cordial, except for one poster who came in on the last page or two. You can't exactly make assumptions on an entire thread or an entire group of people based on one troll.

That is unfair. The OP's on these threads are not bashers. If you don't like discussing religion because it makes you uncomfortable, then don't read the threads. It is dishonest to label every post on religion "bashing".
