can you not read. why are churchs asking for donations while the vatican is one of the richest organizations in the world.  the vatican has its own personal army of mercs (the swiss guard),  not to mention churches here dont have to pay taxes.  so why doesnt the vatican fund the catholic churches here rather than passing a basket arounfd?[/quote]

OK, you are a nut.  The Swiss Guard is a security detail, not a real army.  No churches here pay taxes.  And the Catholic church funds itself out of voluntary donations which are, ahem, voluntary.
