Yup. Make every single thing in society a zero sum game. It’s horrible.

Just because International students have more potential than your niece doesn't make it wrong for international students to study there. Your niece should work harder. International students shouldn't have to suffer for this.

As an American, I have no personal duty or obligation to international students. My country‘s duty and obligation is to its own citizens.

Getting the best and brightest to live and work in our country is looking out for our country. A lot our scientists are immigrants, many who came here as foreign students.

Spoken like a true hypocritical progressive elitist.

I am a moderate and far from elitist. My parent were blue collar workers.

What i am is not afraid of my children having to compete with foreigners.

I’m not “afraid” of them having to compete with foreigners either. I just believe that my kids, and yours, should have certain advantages and benefits conveyed to them simply because they are Americans.

That is the definition of being afraid!!!!!

Lots of us-born posters here agree with you. The foreign born ones don’t.

You sound just like the English Americans who didn't want Irish immigrants because they were taking jobs from the English, or how the Irish didn't want Italians because they were taking spots away from the Irish.

And the cycle continues.

I think my kids should get cheap iPhones. Let’s force Apple to reduce their prices.

I'd rather American kids be able to access financial aid, and that not only those whose families can afford $90K a year are able to attend. Right now at all these schools, international students are subsidizing U.S. students.

PP again. This also has implications well beyond Harvard. What international student would want to study in the U.S. these days, if they know they can be sent home at a moment's notice? If you have a kid who will be attending college in the next few years--even if Harvard is not at all on your radar--and you cannot pay full freight, you should be very worried. This could drastically change admissions strategies at schools across the board.

My son studied in Italy last year. In the process of obtaining his student visa, we were informed of a list of actions that could get him “sent home at a moments” notice. Getting arrested was one of them.

So what? He was a guest in their country and has to play by their rules.

Everyone fends for themselves.

In the long run, this is good for America. In the late 90s and 2000s the foreign admit rate was sub 10% for grad and undergraduate.

Innovation seemed to do just fine back then. I seem to remember something called the Internet being invented and the subsequent boom?

Stop freaking out. You guys are just silly.

I'm just imagining the melt down these same posters would have if Oxford or St. Andrews didn't admit Americans. Because you don't understand, my kid is special.

Harvard, with its how many billions of dollars endowment, doesn’t really need the $ of these foreign students. It’s just a greedy money grab to obtain more and more.

Fck cancer research.

No, it’s not. I have long list of ancestors who fought for this country and the future for their own descendants. It’s now their turn to pick up the baton.

Those schools reject plenty of American kids. Especially Oxbridge. I'd be fine with their limiting international enrollment to 10% as well. It's a reasonable cap across the board.

And then the UK became too woke, never dealt with its original sin of colonialism, and has now been taken over by Islamic fundamentalists in vast suburban swaths of London.

Not sure that’s working out so well either.

The issue isn’t the exact %. The issue is that the POTUS shouldn’t be forcing this onto private universities. Especially because it’s being done out of spite.

Many US born posters disagree with you. It sounds like just another outgrowth of the insane college admissions discourse

Again with the stupidity. What students got arrested to warrant getting kicked out of Harvard over the course of one afternoon??? This has nothing to do with the students and everything to do with Trump being a fascist dictator who thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants to whomever he wants.

Seriously, this thread is making me cry because I'm realizing you all are just as selfish and stupid as the MAGAs.
