Those games are nice the players who don’t normally get in the game to get some playtime.... All
teams usually add in some games like that in a season of 20+ games.

Plus, no one wants to play them so the hosts have to oblige.

Do you put any stock in the St James games these teams are playing against each other right now? Like are they predictive of the actual season this spring?

Absolutely not—they mean nothing at all. Some teams don’t even have their actual coaches on the sidelines due to league rules, so a mom or dad steps in. You also have a lot of players missing these games because they’re playing another sport like hockey or basketball, and there’s also the lack of the draw. It’s simply a fun way to stay lacrosse-active, and that’s all it should be.

I mean, if you think a game with a mom standing on the sidelines playing with their phone counts for something. Then yea.

I don't think so. I know people love the short field and how fast paced it becomes. But full field and draw control changes things up quite a bit.

GBs and TOs do seem to matter as well.

The green card stuff is a mess too now they’ve gotta get it under control

Cheap fouls to slow down a fast break, with no consequence to the defensive team, was a problem. Green cards for all fouls between restraining lines, however, is clearly not the right solution.

My solution is a player "foul out" like basketball. (Would like this to apply to LI clubs, and certain ISL and WCAC teams today, but I digress.)

My daughter's response--"sure dad, makes sense, go ahead and call Jenny Levy."

It’s making game unwatchable. Easy … two yellows or four greens you foul out. If you lose starters you’ll stop fouling.

And it needs to evolve like basketball where when you score the other team gets possession from the goalie (like STJ Winter League)...draws should only happen at the beginning of each half. It will speed up the game and make more teams competitive. Love the shot clock addition...now let's keep going.
