This is a good post. I don't think democrats understand this and care about us. They lost my vote forvery at defund the police.

So you voted for the guy who didn’t care that his supporters were beating up police. Got it.

Recognizing one wrong doesn't make it "okay" to drift towards another wrong. There are no homes in modern day major political parties for young people who want to make the world a better place. Surely, you are smart enough to realize this.

Young people nowadays barely remember Obama.
They don't remember the 2008 financial crash and how Obama pulled us away from the brink of a global depression.
They don't have any Republicans top compare Trump to. As far as they are concerned the choices are wokeness and MAGA. And they are increasingly choosing MAGA over Wokeness.
Let that sink in. Your woke crap is worse than MAGA to someone new on the scene.

OP, sit down and have a long conversation with him, but don’t catch him off-guard. Tell him that you are interested in hearing what it is he likes about Trump, and ask when would be a good time to talk. He will likely show you tiktoks. Once you see how incredibly convincing these tiktoks are, you will begin to understand how he got pulled in. Calmly and explicitly, explain to him the inaccuracies, and back it up with evidence. Real evidence, not biased sources. For example, if he claims Project 2025 isn’t that bad, pull up the actual document. No need for secondary sources here. It is all spelled out. If he says the Trump indictments are dems weaponizing the justice system, pull up the actual 34 documents. Again, straight to the primary sources. It won’t happen overnight, but teaching him to use reliable sources to become informed is the most helpful thing you can do for him. Give him time. Keep having conversations. Good luck, OP.

Fortunately, your cats can't vote -- yet.

Or just give it time and eventually one of our two parties will put forth a legitimate president and our youth will be like OMG, this is what presidential is! Remember, many of these young people are too young to remember anything before the Trump/Biden mess.

This will not reliably work.
It depends on the premise that you right and they are wrong.
Reasonable people could reach a different conclusions.

We have done such a good job of tearing down the legitimacy of institutions whenever they do something we don't like that there are no reliable sources anymore.

Too ashamed to tell people we know in real life. Heartsick that we raised a child who is happy about Trump being elected. He says a big reason is campus DEI and wokeness, which he feels has gone too far. Anyone else in this situation? How are you handling it? Any advice?

The fact that he rejected you probably should indicate that he is distraught and embarrassed that that his upper middle class white family are Democrats. That he's too ashamed to tell people he knows in real life. Heartsick that he was raised by sanctimonious close- minded ideologues who are happy about Biden being elected and would feel this way about their child. Reading this post, I would say he would be right. You seem like a miserable parent to grow up with.

Your own bias is showing. As just one example, do you even know what the 34 indictments are for?
I bet you can’t explain it in a way that would not expose that the system was indeed weaponized by a corrupt prosecutor in a heavily Democratic jurisdiction.

Idiot Obama used the financial crisis, something akin to a heart attack as an excuse to give the country a massive does of chemo (health care reform). If that clown had any experience, he would have righted the economic ship and then pursued health care changes. But, alas, Obama was words not actual knowledge and instead of being thoughtful based on a worthwhile lived experience, he botched everything.

Too bad most current Democrats are control freak cultists: Shut-up and obey, or we don’t like you anymore.

Shame on you, op.

Liar, yet again. President Trump has a Jewish daughter. Your lying is boring.

I bet you didn’t grow up in NYC in the 1980s, 90s. You would know that Trump is a con man. And a failed businessman. Sad.
