Tysons Corner Casino -- Foregone Conclusion Now?

Scott Surovell had two town halls on Saturday in his district and I attended one of them. I live in his district. The casino came up. This casino is his pet project and he wants to see it happen. I did a little research - the legislation passed 10 days ago in the senate on a bipartisan basis. It now moves to the House of Delegates. 3 of the Northern Virginia senators voted in favor of the casino. One who voted against the casino is, Adam Ebbin. He voted no just a few days before he moved into the governor's administration. I don't know Ebbin's successor's stance on the casino.

Scott believes the MGM casino is "stealing" money from Virginia (tax revenue) and by building a casino in Fairfax County, it will generate enough taxes to avoid having to raise taxes for residents. My prediction is, as long as Scott is in the VA Senate, he is going to do everything he can to get a casino in Fairfax County. He also has the support of Louise Lucas, probably the most powerful senator in the VA Senate.
