| Orange is wide open |
| Rumor I've heard is that the blue team was already pre-selected for the most part with maybe 1 or 2 looks. Orange is another ball of wax. It's a B team so it will feed into waitlists. Do many get waitlisted and they just go down the list one by one based on where girl fell in rank and position? Girls who make Orange but waitlisted elsewhere need at least a few hours to make that call. How many hours/days to make a decision? Do positions vary year by year? Is it typically 2 goalies, 16 offensive and 4 defenders. Assuming midfielders can play defense as well but not vice versa for all players. I guess I can look at an old roster, just curious how it typically works as this is my oldest child. Get to go through this 3 more times. Ugh Again, only rumors I'm hearing so who knows how much is true. Just want my daughter to be on a solid team and happy. |
25 blue team is probably the same. The bottom 5 might be a little nervous but the rest are just going through the motions for 4 hours. Clc O could have a little more movement. |
| are there any girls on the local NoVA teams like Stars, Pride and smaller clubs staying or will they all jump ship if they make Capital Blue or Orange? Surely there are some girls who want to stay on their club's A team. Won't there be enough talent to go around or? |
| Didn't realize they take girls off off the orange roster as a 2025. Do club teams ever get locked in? Geez |
Blue yes orange no. Several Pride 25 girls turned down clc o for Pride Black. I assume this year will be the same. |
| Well if 25 pride black plays/played 25 cap orange, who would win? Are they both decent? Do they get invited to similar showcases? Or is one much stronger? Trying to figure out why you would choose a B team when you can play on an A team. Perhaps it varies year by year |
They never will play but Pride black would be favored. They play in higher brackets at tourney’s. Clc o just lost to yjma to put in perspective how good they are in regards to dmv. Clc b is undisputed queen for dmv. |
| Capital always has and will always move players between blue and orange after both freshman and sophomore year placement tryouts. Occasionally, completely new-to-Capital player(s) will be added to the blue and orange teams between fresh and soph years too. |
|
so if you are on a club's A team, you can't play another club's B team? Why can't Pride Black play against Cap Orange? So, it sounds as if you want to showcase your talent and play against stronger competition, you should stick w/ an A team -- regardless of club. There are probably a handful of exceptions, but trying to figure out why so many people want a spot on Cap orange. Are the other top A teams in the DMV going to be that awful to play on? Or, are they just hyped up as the queen.
|
| What about VA metro, MC or Stars? Is it worth playing for their top team instead of playing on Capital orange? Haven't registered my daughter to tryout for any clubs outside of Pride and Capital so am trying to figure out if it is too late. Any other A teams outside of the ones mentioned I should consider in the DMV area? |
Pride black can play clc o but it probably won’t happen. Pride b plays in a higher bracket than clc o and I would surmise neither club wants to play that game. Sort of like umd and Georgetown in bball. Look at rankings on us club lacrosse to see team records and rankings. A lot want clc due to recruiting prowess, prestige and they have the best food at the team tents during tournaments. |
For my DDs class Capital Blue and Pride Black have played each other. Both of these teams tend to play in the top brackets of tournaments and are generally playing top 20 teams. Capital Orange is much lower ranked, usually in the 70-80 range, and plays a much weaker schedule. Don’t worry about win/loss records. As long as the team can compete with the best clubs go with the A team over B. Gotta play the best to be the best as they say. |
| Earlier in the thread someone mentioned Capital might not indicate whether player makes orange or blue. Is that still the case? |
This is craziness. So that everyone can see the true picture: Club "Statement" for YJMA G8 weekend and overall year 2024 - 1-3 USCLUBLAX # 167 Rating 81.42 2025 - 3-1 USCLUBLAX #89 Rating 89.76 2026 - 0-4 2027 - 0-3-1 2028 - 0-4 Club "Statement" for CLC G8 weekend and overall year 2024 Orange - 3-1 USCLUBLAX #66 Rating 90.00 2024 Blue - 3-1 USCLUBLAX #8 Rating 97.74 2025 Orange - 3-1 USCLUBLAX #72 Rating 91.11 2025 Blue - 4-0 USCLUBLAX #12 Rating 97.06 Apples to apples what basket would you want your apples to be in? Do you want a club that can barely find enough players for a single team and the above overall stats? When CLC last year for 25s had over 130 girls tryout for one age group. So yeah, WOW, the YJMA 2025 "A" Team (ONLY 25 Team) beat CLC B Team .
I get it it is hard to make CLC. So people want to talk trash because they didn't make it. If your kid doesn't make it, there are other quality options. MC Elite, Pride, VA Metro, VA One, Stars, VA TL, and I think Cardinal is still around. Just make good decisions and work hard. |
