IL has gone downhill.

IL has gone downhill.

They are covering the mens game more than HS. Makes sense.

Everyone knows who the number 1 team was this past season. Everyone else is irrelevant.

What the hell are you talking about

They don’t know. Realizing SJC will continue to beat little Billy’s team this coming spring.

Seriously. What are you guys talking about.

Season is still early and 23 pages in we will all know that "neutral observer = STA. Remember this as the thread gets to 150+ pages. How is the STA 2023 D any better than any other team?

1. Bullis- very solid 2023 class and an elite 2025 class. My favorite for the IAC champs.
2. Sjc- lost a lot with their 2022 class leaving but still have the best goalie fogo and attackmen in the area. My favorite for the wcac champs. Not a lot of competition in the wcac.
3. Landon- elite 2024 class. Overall a very good team.
4. Prep- so much talent across the board. Will the infamous madlax dc dogs be able to put it together this year?
5. STA- they have really made a name for themselves with an elite 2023 class. Dark horse for the IAC this year.
6. Dematha- very good 2023 and 2024 class and seem to have put themselves in a good spot.
7. Gonzaga- could be a dark horse for the wcac. Their 2024 class will have to carry the team with a weak 2023 class.
8- Pvi- they have lost a lot of depth and key players. They have a solid 2023 class and have a chance to make some noise.
9- SSSAS- lost almost their whole team and all of their talent and have the weakest senior class behind Gonzaga. Don’t really have any expectations for them.
10- EHS- have one good player going to uva. That’s about it.

Neutral observer here.

1. SJC - until someone dethrones them, they should remain #1 in the area. They won't go undefeated in 2023 but will be the favorite to repeat as champs in WCAC.
2. Bullis - solid 2023 class and a loaded 2025 class.... Is Tucker Wade moving on from Bullis, or is he coming back for his 6th year of HS after a semester in Australia?
3. Prep - very strong 2023 class. Mac Christmas is not the lost people think he is, as Crowe is just as good. The biggest issue facing Prep next Spring will be face-offs. Mac Eldrige was the best in the country last year - very hard to replace a kid of his caliber.
4. Landon - deep and talented 2024 class, weak 2023 class. The Bears are a year away from being heavy contenders in the IAC
5. Gonzaga - same as above, but will contend with SJC for the top in the WCAC.
6. DeMatha - if there is a year for the Stags to make it to the WCAC finals, the Spring of 2023 is the year.
7. STA - 2023 is the year the Bulldogs finally crack the top 4 of the IAC.. It will be tough to score on STA next Spring but don't think they have a potent offense to contend
8. St Stephens - despite the graduation losses, the Saints are very well coached and will contend again for a VISSA state title.
9. Paul Vi - always athletic but coaching has been a major issue over the years. Panthers have the depth and speed to run with most teams but coaching crushes them.
10. Episcopal - I hope Conklin brought in some Canadian transfers this off-seaosn as the Maroon have zero depth.

Overall thoughts - I think the area takes a step back next year. The 2023 classes overall are not the greatest.

Agree with 1 and 2 and your last thought.

The class of 23 is full of 2022s that couldn’t hang so reclassed.

He is lazy and college coaches don’t care much about his rankings.

He promotes the game. I’m sure he doesn’t care what college coaches think about his rankings.

very true!

Bullis best place has re-classified twice - should have graduated with the class of 2020.

Everyone knows if these re-classified players didn’t drop down they wouldn’t be “perceived” top players.

You are missing the point - 6 years in high school is pathetic.

The player will not have 6 years in high school. He will complete grades 9 - 12 at Bullis. Prior to Bullis, he was an 8th grader at another school.

Please stop posting statements that are not true about this player.

This is ridiculous.

#1 St. John's is the defending champion and #1 until someone in the area actually beats them. Period.
#2 Agree Bullis is probably next but their depth is questionable, as they got manhandled in Geico.
#3 Prep is what they always are - great on paper, but just missing something. This year will be no different.
#4 GZ is next but there is a serious drop off after #3. Their defense will be good, but not great. Their offense will be virtually invisible this season.
#5 Dematha will surprise a lot of people with this being Mitchell's 2nd year.
#6 - St Alban's will be a lot like GZ. Great D but no O.
#7 - #10 - Toss-up between EHS, SSSAS, PVI and Landon. SSSAS probably has the edge with their coaching and their off-season recruiting especially on offense. EHS is one dimensional even counting their UVA commit. Landon and PVI have athletes but no coaching.

Agree it will be a step down from last year across the board, but also plenty of time for one or more of these teams to step up and challenge for one of the 4 IAC-WCAC play-off spots.

the list below is bad. . DeMatha at 5 is a joke. Mitchell hasn't proved he can coach HS ball, big difference between coaching club ball and HS. STA will be lucky to crack the top 4 in the IAC.
