Time to put 2022 to bed. NHSLS red then white session, fall ball scrimmages and tournaments will start to paint the picture for 2023. Bold prediction, SJC will be the top team again. However, they will lose a game to a DMV team. Top teams in the IAC: Prep, Bullis, Landon, SSSAS, top teams in the WCAC: SJC, Gonzaga, Dematha, PVI and SJC will be the strongest team aside from them almost any team can beat any other team on any given game. Collectively the DMV teams will be stronger than the MIAA teams in 2023. |
I like Good Counsel to upset some teams in the WCAC next season. The new coach has been pushing and recruiting hard. |
I still think it's a bit pre-mature as some programs will hit the HS transfer portal this summer and some programs are trying to find out if some of their star players are even eligible to play next Spring. Early pre-season rankings for 2023 1. Bullis 2. SJC 3. Prep 4. Gonzaga 5. Landon 6. St Albans 7. St Stephens 8. PVI 9. DeMatha 10. Episcopal Expect to see even more parity next Spring across the privates listed above. I don't see one team being totally dominant like we witnessed with SJC this Spring. |
Let me fix this up for ya. 1. Bullis 2. SJC 3. Prep 4. Albans 5. Landon 6. PVI 7. GZ 8. DM 9. Heights 10. SSSAS HM: Churchill/St. Andrew’s/Episcopal Bullis & SJC are going to be super close. Albans will do great this year because of their 2023 class, but fall off next year. SSSAS falls heavy, they lose literally ALL of their offensive fire power. Episcopal is toast. |
I am not an SJC parent (or coach or kid) but I don't see them at #2.
I think they will hold tight for a long time as #1. |
STA wins every off season list or ranking. |
STA!!! |
Which school has the strongest incoming Freshman and rising 10th grade class? |
Its tough to predict which incoming 2026 class could have an impact on a program as a "freshman". Some middle school players who were sensational in the early years, simply just peak, while some kids who were maybe in the shadows, keep working hard and really start to shine by the time the juniors. My son is an upperclassman so its been hard for me to keep up with the 2026 class.
For the 10th graders, Bullis has the best 2025 class in the area by a good margin. Several of Bullis' 2025 started for the entire varsity season and others played a ton. I was also impressed with Landon's 2025s. Bullis certainly has the edge over them but I wouldn't sleep on the Bears 2025s. |
Incoming Freshman is SJC my a mile. I don’t know why these kids go to schools like SJC to just play their Senior year. |
Landon had some strong 2024 kids I did not see any 2025’s make any Varsity impact last season. |
2024 class is pretty spread out between Bullis, Landon, Prep, Zaga and SJC, probably give the nod to Zaga and Prep for #s but top talent is pretty evenly split, I don't think any one school can claim a major advantage in this class. |
Best incoming freshman pulled out of PVI and headed to reclass at Prep after turning down GZ. One of the top attackers sophomore attackers left Landon and is headed to St Johns. Bullis has the best overall class of 25s especially on defense since there are 10-11 of the DCE 25 team playing at Bullis, but really only 2-3 played any real minutes as freshmen. Could be special by the time they are seniors but lots of growing to do. At mid and attack for both the 24 and 25s, the talent is really spread pretty evenly across the IAC and WCAC for next season. |
What position? |
Bullis has several incoming transfers for next year... look for them to repeat in the IAC.
If Tucker Wade is back for another season, Bullis will be the best team in the area by a long shot. |
