Well that’s nice. The three of you agree. Yay.

This is absolutely false. |
GMAFB. You are blaming Biden for this? “I voted for Biden but…” Sure you did. Liar. |
You mean the ones who are cheering on Putin? |

This is one of the most insane threads I've ever read on DCUM.
All you paranoid folk must know nothing about nuclear war!! Mutually Assured Destruction means just that. No one will survive. The planet will not survive. Everything and everyone on the planet will die. The only "safe" place to be is on the Space Station, but even then, you could never come back to Earth. Putin likes to make threats. You've heard his hyperbole, right? Calling the Ukrainian government (headed by a Jewish president) Nazis and drug addicts? Putin has children, believe it or not. There are people on the planet he cares about. He does not want his country annihilated. He wants to expand Russia's territory and return to the glory days of the USSR. He does not want to blow up Russia. That is not in his plans. Blowing up any part of Europe would destroy Russia also, which he doesn't want to do. Calm down. Eat some ice cream. Watch a movie. BTW I have a supply of potassium iodide in my medicine cabinet. I bought it about a decade ago (it's likely expired) when there was concern about a nuclear power plant accident. That's a much more real threat than Putin launching nuclear weapons, which he categorically will not do. Of if he does, he'll launch them into the ocean or in the middle of Siberia. He wants power and land. Nuclear war will give him neither. Ice cream. Snacks. Netflix. Naps. |

Leave now if you’re leaving. I’ve already thought this through—years ago—and know we won’t make it out on 270 or 95 south or north during an emergency. Too much traffic.
|
I guess the PP thinks it was just some flatulence. |
| Unless you are thinking that this is going to be an all out nuclear slug-fest, DC is probably safer than anywhere. The last thing you want to do in a limited nuclear engagement is completely decapitate your rival. No one to negotiate surrender with, no one to tell nuclear submarines to stand-down. It is an exercise in mutual destruction without any hope at all. In a limited scenario, cities like Houston or Minneapolis or Chicago would be more likely targets. |
Even during Sept 11 when traffic much lighter than now - so many people had to get out of their cars and walk on their mass exodus out of DC after the feds finally let their workers leave … |
NP. Fact remains we didn't have a potential nuclear war looming over us when Trump was president. He took a strong stance against Putin and put sanctions on the pipeline being built between Russia and Europe and warned of Europeans becoming too energy dependent on Russia. He called out NATO for taking advantage of the US, which NATO was doing. There are many, many, many things I disagree with Donald Trump but much of his foreign policy was actually on target. Despite all this, Trump got pilloried in the presses. But had the Germans and other nations not been so short sighted and shut down their nuclear plants in exchange for becoming energy dependent on Russia, had all the NATO countries lived up to their military spending obligations, Putin wouldn't be thinking the West is weak and divided and invading Ukraine. It's not to Joe Biden's credit that he removed the sanctions Trump put on the Russian pipeline. Nor do I think it was wise to have all the US embassies fly BLM and rainbow flags in despotic regions. In case you hadn't noticed, both Russia and China have been increasingly dismissive and aggressive since Biden took office and it's not hard to see why they may be thinking the US is weak. |
Right. Why would Putin pull this stunt while he already had a puppet in the White House? Flying rainbows didn't trigger Putin FFS.

Putin runs a Petro state. Oil is 50% of gdp. He needs Ukraine to send that oil out and he needs Ukraine’s reserves in the Black Sea to keep his petro state running. This is purely about keeping his oil-fueled regime in power. Everything else is theatrics. NATO could get on it’s knees and kiss his rear and he would still take southern Ukraine because his oil addicted regime can’t survive without it. He’s built a poor country with a small elite class. He has no other cards to play. |
| Trump is praising Putin's directives... I can't imagine what he'd be doing if he were in office right now, maybe helping Putin? |
