He’s home. It was a brief delay because the new passport didn’t have the stamp coming into the DR. It was a nothing burger.

As for the parents, everything I’ve read seems to indicate it takes years for someone missing to be declared dead and that’s unlikely to change in this situation unless the body appears.

That is an assumption that now people are spouting as fact.

It's the most likely scenario. That and that the victim drown.

I think parents wanted to try to shut down videos being played and discussion.

google says it's part of Hindu ritual at day 13.

For whatever reasons, her parents made a decision. If DR and whomever wants to continue let them do whatever they do in DR. Best if all left the families alone, they have been through enough as it is.

DR does not even have a provision for this in law. In US typically after 7 years.

Parents have only added to the spectacle.
