| Is she is the process of trying to be here legally? Not Obama's fault unless he brought her here and housed her. I mean, look at McCain's wife the thief and ex-drug addict mooching off her own charity, stealing and getting caught by the DEA. They all have their skeletons. |

Exactly, they all have skeletons, it's just that Obama's have not been dragged out into the open since he is a relatively new player on the political scene (compareed with John McCain's 20+ years of experience and public scrutiny). Areas of legitimate concern about Obama have not been fully examined or aired. |

Unless the skeletons in Obama's closet include his being a 72 year old cancer survivor with a neophyte wingnut running mate, and having voted with Bush 95 percent of the time, I think we'll be in good hands. |

I dont think the point is if she's an Illegal or not, the problem is him saying he "didn't know"....
Come on, Im pretty sure the secret service knew and probably told him about it. Just be honest, is what I say. |

Oh, well, I guess they had to go with Plan B - the half sister of the estranged father whom he met a handful of times, who he last spoke to two years ago, got her immigration request bounced. Oh, yeah, she donated to his campaign. I guess he only raised $149,999,720 in September. Click. Click. Click. Uh oh. John McCain is officially out of ammo. |

Even if Obama had known that his half aunt's request for asylum had been rejected, what exactly was he supposed to do about it? As I understand it he barely knew her, and didn't socialize with her.
But what could he possibly have done, that wouldn't look really bad? As a senator, I suppose he could have gotten involved with her case. But other than that -- it appears that a federal judge ordered the half-aunt to leave the country. She stayed. She was employed by the Boston Housing Authority -- so clearly she was working legally, had a SSN, and was available to be contacted by legal authorities. It wasn't like she was hiding out somewhere -- they knew where she was. If he had known about the staus of her case -- what is it you think he should have done? Pressured the federal government to have her deported? |

I guess you would have to hold him responsible for not taking time off from his campaign to confront this woman (who he can barely recall her name or recognize in a crowd) and wag his finger at her.

Are you comparing getting pregnant to knowingly engaging in illegal activity? btw, just about everyone on this board DID blame Palin for her daughter's pregnancy. |

No, that is not true. PLENTY of people said her daughter's pregnancy was off limits as a topic of criticism. Some people did say it was a legitimate topic of criticism only because they believed Palin to be a supporter of "abstinence only" sex ed, and a lot of people (inc. me) think that studies show that abstinence only sex ed simply leads to kids having sex but not using contraception. So it was ironic more than relevant. Now, if Obama had been making a big deal of his record of enforcing deportation of people who had been denied asylum, then POSSIBLY his failure to ensure the deportation of his half-aunt would be of some relevance. However, do recognize that his half-aunt entered the country legally and lived here legally. She then had her petition for asylum denied 4 years ago, yet remained on -- which is a violation of immigration law, but not a criminal violation. I guess this is like Sarah Palin's ethics violation up in Alaska -- it wasn't TECHNICALLY illegal, you betcha. Only difference is Palin IS running for office, but Obama's half aunt is NOT. |

| There is no way he couldn't have known. The background checks that have to have been done on him would have shown this long ago. I suppose this falls under his own "don't ask, don't tell" type policy. It does make me wonder what type of policy he will set for those who are here illgeally. |
