Elite National Premier League logo and framework announced
ENPL to kick off in August 2017
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Aug. 17, 2016) – The format and structure of the Elite National Premier League (ENPL), the new competition and development platform for boys collaboratively launched by US Club Soccer and the Elite Clubs National League, is taking shape well ahead of the league's August 2017 kick-off...

From reading the email from US Club Soccer, I assume you received the same one, I gather this is more like a Champions League competition. The teams play in their respective leagues, either NPL or ECNL, and based on some formula that will not be disseminated, a few clubs will be invited to participate in the ENPL competition to be ENPL champion, or whatever. Please excuse my attitude, but it does seem like clubs will be forced to choose which competition they want to focus on.

Not sure what will be made of the NPL championships, and the USYS championships will need to be played around the same weekends, after VA State Assoc State Cup play. There aren't that many weekends, and I can't imagine who will have the time and money to take their kids to all of these games. My salary range is in the mid-50's, with two other kids I will have to say no to some of the competitions that my son will be invited to. I guess all these leagues makes me feel as if the people setting them up aren't taking into consideration the actual people that have to lug their family around the country to play soccer, not everyone is in their mid-40's pursuing a corporate ladder office job with their only-child.

I used to think that people complaining about coaches and whoever just using soccer as a money maker were kind of a sour grapes crowd. As we've progressed through it with a very competitive player (now U17) I am just amazed at how little thought is given to either the players or the families involved. The costs escalate dramatically if you start to play nationally, and the tournaments don't even bother to try to contain costs. I think the worst thing is the 1 game per day approach - it's that way in Super Y, Regionals, and Nationals. Who the heck has the time or money to travel for 1 game per day? 'Oh, we'll have better games that way' I hear. But they put these tournaments in places with crap fields, or extreme heat, so that's not getting better soccer. I think they just make more money off 6 days of hotel stays versus 3.

Every tournament and competition I've gone to that required travel has always had a hotel or booking system that required all teams and participants to go through the hotel, to the point that certain competitions threaten to disqualify teams if they don't. Now I ask you, what difference does it make if the families aren't staying together in the same hotel. I've heard the "bonding" reason, but honestly you end up spending time with those you get along anyway, be it though lunches, dinners, before-or-after game meetings. Are there revenue-sharing or kickback schemes to a organization when these kinds of 'required use hotel" clauses are included in an agreement?

Of course there are. Not only must you stay in their hotels, you must book through their travel agent. Agent gets commission from hotel, organizer gets revenue share from agent. So for your $100/night hotel, agent maybe gets $10 for the booking, and some percentage of that goes to the organizer. Big tournament like Bethesda with 600 teams, that could easily be 1000 hotel rooms for 2 - 3 nights. That starts to add up quick.

ENPL is ECNL for boys. It's part of the turf war. U.S. Soccer said, "Gee, thanks ECNL, but we're going to do a Development Academy for girls now." So U.S. Club Soccer said, "Oh yeah? Well, we'll do ECNL for boys."

Real soccer development in the US, to where we could actually contend internationally, is being killed by the greed of the soccer community.

They are all a bunch of fuckwads.

Women's soccer is beginning its slow descent. They only were ahead because they started before the other countries. That ship has sailed. The Europeans and S.Americans will eclipse them soon enough since they have a male model to follow.

Who talks like this? Same guy who wrote about f*&%tards a few pages back?! With soccer parents who communicate like this, the sport in America really is doomed.

The sport in America was doomed when the rich agreed to make it about money and not talent and training

I'm a male and if that's really a female it's kind of attractive to me

You can't be serious

Can we get back to soccer? There are plenty of other forums for people looking for people with dirty mouths, etc.
