It is what it is, and no one should be surprised when the results come out. Keep in mind that the Capital selection process began in the fall with the CAP program and fall clinics, and continued through the winter with additional CAP sessions and winter clinics. This spring has been more virtual with CAP, and now we’re entering the tryout clinic phase, leading up to tryouts themselves. Girls who have had opportunity to participate are positioned for success during this tryout window. If you haven’t been part of the process from the start, it will be more challenging. Its not impossible, but coaches will be less familiar with your daughter and therefore less comfortable compared to players they’ve been working with since the fall. Good luck to everyone.

We will see what happens with the 29 class. With the 28 class, 3 Blue players got moved down to Orange. 1 orange player got moved up to blue. Blue took 2 new players from outside. Orange cut a few players outright.

Just adding to this that of the 2 new 2028 players added to Cap Blue, I know one of the girls had tried out the first year and was completely cut from the program even though she should have been a definite pick for Cap Blue. Didn’t even get offer for Orange. Politics were definitely at play. Glad she ended up where she belongs.

44 girls on 1 team? Or is that 44 split between blue and orange?

44 total total, usually 22 on each team. 2 goalies and 20 field players. Sometimes they carry 23 on roster

Question do the players that don't make Cap make the drive to play for Baltimore teams

If they dont make cap, they prob arent making a Baltimore team. Maybe their B team. But yes, a few may.

Of course some do.

HG, MDU & SW 27 both took former BLC kids. No idea if they tried Capital first or not but when you are talking HS, it’s only mid May-mid July you gotta make that trip and maybe Sundays in fall.

Better question is what local team will benefit the most from the girls who don't make Capital - YJMA DMV, Stars or M&DDC?

Yes, the legal tampering period has already begun.

Why do you all use the term politics? It implies something sinister.

Guess what? Capital sometimes screws up and picks the wrong kid. They try and fix it in year 2. By the way, that's better than M&D or Heroes that barely ever makes a change after 4th grade (yes I know, they have done it before but one time every couple of years doesn't count). It's not personal, it's not sinister, it's not because the kid was from the wrong program or is going to the wrong school.

Believe it or not, they think they have picked the best teams possible and want to win.

Not true. There are politics involved, maybe not with every selection or cut but with one or two. And you’re right, they seem to fix it in year 2, but the 2028 girl who should have made Capital Blue and got cut played for Stars and was in front of all the right people leading up to tryouts. If winning was their only objective she should have been the easy pick. It wasn’t the type of mistake like you’re thinking.

Agreed, it’s nothing sinister, but it can still be political. They can’t take all the girls from one club, so they have to spread selections around as fairly as possible to maintain good relationships with the local clubs.

The suggestion that M&D and Heros don’t make many changes after 4th grade is wild. I have a HS aged daughter and those teams now are probably only 1/3 - 1/2 same players they had in 4th grade.
