| So what are the chances for a strong 2030 from an outside team with no connections to make Capital? Are the tryouts a waste of time? |
We are about to find out. If some of those girls paying into that program don’t make it, they will feel fleeced. |
|
Capital has established a pipeline with BLC through a partnership that benefits both clubs. BLC was selected by Capital as the designated middle school program, which speaks to the strength of the relationship. Explore either organization’s website for more information.
Outside of BLC, the Capital Academy Program is invite-only. Looking ahead, the 2030 Capital Blue team will likely consist largely of BLC players, though there will still be opportunities for athletes outside of BLC to earn roster spots. Those openings, are expected to be highly competitive. |
| Used to be open to all.. not anymore. Unclear why they are even holding “tryouts” …they already know who is on the team. Lost respect for the Capital program- clearly it is no longer the best in the area. This BLC pipeline is going to hurt Capital. |
| After the academy and the clinics, Capital Blue already knows who they want from BLC. What we don't know is how many available positions on Blue. BLC that don't make Blue will be in Orange. |
Usually, at least one player from an outside team makes Blue and Orange for each year. I think those players still went to at least some of the clinics. |
Is strong your own biased opinion or rooted with outside input? Honest question. I wouldnt say tryouts are waste of time, but your DD better be a type of girl that shows very well in a showcase type of enviornment to be scene and make an impression in 3 hours. |
It’s unlikely, but not impossible. It can be challenging to stand out in a large group, especially when the participants abilities vary widely. |
Then is the best in the area? Options would be great. |
It's going to hurt because there are several very good 2030 BLC players but many others who don't belong on a top team. If they're automatically rostsered then Capital isn't picking the best players available to them. |
What are your options if you're BLC and don't make capital? MDDC? |
| It is interesting they rolled this Capital/BLC merger out in the fall after all the 2030 teams have been set. Alteast for the 31s girls, they might have an opportunity to move to different teams knowing what is happening with Cap prior to HS tryouts. |
If you talk to any 2031 parent, most already have their eyes on the 2030 tryout process. If things unfold the way many expect and the team ends up being primarily BLC Blue 2030 players, then a lot of the area 2031 players will likely attend the BLC 2031 tryouts this summer to position themselves for Capital next year. It would also reinforce the perception that the CAP program has been successful, and worth the high cost. Capital has it easy with the 2030 class, with only one dominant local team, but things get difficult next year. There’s broader talent across the 2031 class overall, with Stars, BLC, and YJMA all making the NGLL playoffs this season. All three of these local teams are currently ranked in the top 20 nationally for the 2031 class. |
I don’t think every 31 on the area will tryout for capital. Nor will they tryout for blc if all the blc 30s make blue, which is far fetched. Capital wants the top talent. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to try to get the top talent. I think there will be movement this year for 31s to various clubs. I don’t think capital is going to get the same amount of talent as one would think. |
| Do BLC parents think it's so set in stone? |
