No. Not at all.

But could they go if *someone* pays for their ticket and lodging? Just as an example and not saying this has happened in this case and honestly haven't ever heard of it happening, but what if a church group were to hire their local LE to go check on things somewhere that's not in US if members of their church were in situation or in an incident involving them? Could a Barney level person do that as a private officer or if they go would they be doing so as a LE rep from U.S.?

Since it happened here, presumably it could happen in other instances , no?

They can go just like any other tourist can book a ticket and reserve a hotel room. BUT they aren’t privy to insert themself into the investigation, have access to witnesses and evidence. Ever.

It’s not a term in DR. Educate yourself.

The better question is why he inserted himself where he had no jurisdiction. I am not shocked Chapman labeled this guy a "person of interest."

And with the same legal effect and authority as if you or I labeled him a POI. None.

Did Loudoun Sheriff go by request of young woman's family or...??

In this case, apparently local LE (from VA) did question what they (here in US) had named a POI. So sounds like they did insert themself into an investigation. No?

Not really. Under no scenario should DR been able to forbid anyone from talking to "the witness" as he was holed up in the hotel. I'm not opining on the legitimacy of Loudoun County sending Barney or whether "the witness" should or wants to talk to Barney. But he absolutely should have been free to speak to anyone he wanted to.

NP. Haven't read the 207 pages.

Some friends this girl had. Even if she hooked up with the guy, when she didn't show up for the excursion after she venmo'd for it, how could they just go about their day until 4pm.

And this guy with the hero syndrome most likely did something to her.

And the parents knowing she's dead probably just don't want her name dragged through the mud by the Indian circle in Ashburn and Aldie and want her declared dead. They must be looking out for their other children.

It's sad that this girl won't get justice.

Hopefully she will get justice if a crime was committed.

Here’s an article re: the death declaration. It’s not a thing in DR without evidence of crime or a body. It’s pretty unprecedented even in US less than 2 weeks into an investigation. I hope the parents were united re this.

And VA did speak with Ribbe.

Why are people inventing things to bicker about?

If you object to VA going, take it up with them, keyboard warriors.

Did Riibe ever get out of Puerto Rico?

Dear auntie, we understand you want this conversation to stop but, have you met the internet?

It was for religious (Hindu) reasons due to the the 13 days of mourning period.

That is an assumption that now people are spouting as fact.
