| I know, I was discussing who might have opted in. I don’t see many from Chantilly opting in next year. The question was what happens if only 200 people opt in. |
It’s hardly sensible to assign 2162 kids to a school without knowing how many students the school can accommodate. We shouldn’t be spending a dime on expanding this school beyond the number of students it can serve in the existing buildings. |
No. They only have 10 buses or so and the transportation will be provided to the in-boundary kids first. So they will have to make the boundary decisions before the school start. |
2142 kids are to be assigned to Western according the draft Option C. 2162 doesn't seem impossible at all. |
You do realize that FCPS has far more than 10 buses? What makes you think they have only ten buses? |
I have no doubt more than 500 kids opted in. The webpage originally said the opt-in period would end in February, but instead it ended yesterday. The bigger problem is how to determine who gets accepted. They originally wanted to give priority to kids in draft boundaries, but those draft boundary options were thrown away |
FCPS bought those ten buses from KAA. They will be used for Western HS. |
Look at the names - very few of them are current Crossfield parents. Lots of former Crossfield parents and lots of Navy and Fox Mill families. |
I agree. Crossfield parent here. |
LOL!! FCPS has a lot of busses, they're not just going to use the 10 KAA busses, it's so funny that you think that!!! |
I propose sending every kid who goes to Carson to Western except of course AAP. Navy Island really needs to be rezoned to Crossfield/Carson/Western. Sorry Navy mommies. |
Obviously, you didn’t watch any board meetings. Only those 10 KAA buses will be used for Western HS, and that’s the reason they will be able to continue providing transportation to the in-boundary kids who won’t opt in but stay at their current high school. Read the FCPS website. It’s clear that the transportation is not guranateed for out of boundary kids who opted in for Western. |
There is a big difference between saying transportation will not be provided for "out of boundary" students and saying that only ten buses will be used for in boundary students. at no time did the SB say that the transportation would be limited to the ten KAA buses that came with the purchase. And, FWIW, those are "short buses." |
I know of no Fox Mill families that signed that petition. That doesn’t mean that some did sign it but it is not something that has been shared around Fox Mill. We had a group meeting to discuss how people were making their choices and no one mentioned the petition. |
Totally agree. |
