| Just get ready for cap tryouts. What you think you know you don’t. There will be some head scratchers for sure. Happens ever year. Politics will be in play. Just brace yourself and make sure to have plenty of talks with your DD ahead of time. |

| Politics will be at play. Undeserving girls will make the team, and deserving girls will not. That’s the sad state of affairs in club lacrosse. |
Yes, there will be some politics. That’s life. There will also be some non-political “head scratchers”. In my experience, those will be very athletic girls with upside, who will ultimately be more interesting to college coaches than players who peaked too soon. That’s the ballgame. Welcome to the party. |
| Is it frowned upon if a capital player does not participate in HB sessions? |
No, it’s not frowned upon, or probably even considered. However, getting noticed in advance can create an advantage in a crowded tryout situation. If a girl really wants to make this or any team she should do everything in her power to maximize her chances. This is all common sense stuff. |
My 2028 daughter REALLY wants to play lacrosse at Duke. Would it be frowned upon if she does not attend their prospect camps this summer? |
Go to the camps! Obviously. |
I laughed |

| Feel sorry for the girls that will get cut from mnd black this tryout season. With SW blue having a good team now it’s not automatic that a cut mnd player will find a comparable home with SW. HG is not planning on any roster changes and neither is mdu east. |
I’m sure any of these teams will take a player that will help them. I truly feel sorry for the Coppermine players. I bet a bunch of players migrate to other clubs. |
Which Coppermine? There’s a bunch of them. If you’re talking of Coppermine Black, none of them are planning an exit |
You have zero knowledge on the plans of HG or MDU. Sounds like someone trying to protect their kids spot. |
It is what it is, and no one should be surprised when the results come out. Keep in mind that the Capital selection process began in the fall with the CAP program and fall clinics, and continued through the winter with additional CAP sessions and winter clinics. This spring has been more virtual with CAP, and now we’re entering the tryout clinic phase, leading up to tryouts themselves. Girls who have had opportunity to participate are positioned for success during this tryout window. If you haven’t been part of the process from the start, it will be more challenging. Its not impossible, but coaches will be less familiar with your daughter and therefore less comfortable compared to players they’ve been working with since the fall. Good luck to everyone. |
