I know it happened with Gtown Prep boys at the time. Whether this specific allegation is true, I don't know.

How do you know?

DP. What’s crazy to me is that a separate woman who dated Mark Judge already said Mark confessed this to her, and yet....people still don’t believe it. You will never believe it, because you simply don’t want to.

If they admit that this is a possibility that Kavanaugh, an allegedly shiny and perfect SC nom did this, they’re going to have to rethink many, many things. And that’s a difficult switch that many people are not willing to make. Hence the doubling down.

No one answered me when I asked: is it that men don’t know that gang rapes actually happen here in America? Someone upthread was saying that it only happens in war torn countries - sorry, bub. It happens here, too.

And, according to the accuser, it happened multiple times - 10 to be exact, and NOBODY EVER REPORTED ANY OF IT.
That, my friend, is simply unbelievable.

Wanna bet? I am 98% confident Kavanaugh will be old news by Monday.

You forget who's in charge of the GOP these days.

A new report just came out that provides information on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s third accuser. The report suggests that Julie Swetnick’s ex-boyfriend filed a restraining order against her for some disturbing violence-related issues. This was back in 2001.

A) What does this have to do with her accusations?

B) For anyone who asks why women don't come forward with accusations, here's your reason: the accuser's life becomes subject to scrutiny.

As well it should. She apparently was nuts enough for an ex to file a restraining order against her.

I sense a pattern. When a woman makes an accusation, she's nuts. When a man makes an accusation, clearly the woman is in the wrong.

Let's just have the investigation and get it over with. This back and forth is going nowhere. If people want to get to the bottom of who is telling the truth, and let's face it, most Americans do care about this right now, we should have it out fully. Then move on. The Republicans are doing themselves no favors by just seeming as if they will do anything to get this guy seated, no matter what anyone says.

That's not what I think. I do think that when anyone is able to get a restraining order, then there's a very good chance that the other person is emotionally unstable.

Do you also think that when someone goes to great lengths to make a public disclosure of an assault, they might just maybe be telling the truth? Because I do .

Of course. But I also think there needs to be corroboration before the accused's life is turned upside down. I don't think an accusation alone is sufficient. (I also think that Ms. Katz is an extremely liberal activist.)

I agree. So have a full investigation, not some partisan questioning. Do it properly. Subpoena people. Let's get to the bottom of this.

I don’t get the demands for him to withdraw. I’d rather hear the proof and know hw is guilty than him withdraw and everyone assume he is. The accusers keep saying they want to be heard, let’s hear them.

It's happened a whole lot more than 10 times. And no, no one "reported it".

He has a duty to uphold the dignity of the court.

This is not doing that.

Fully agree with you. It's madness.

I called my son and warned him to be careful spending time with women who could turn out to be unstable.
I cannot imagine having a false allegation thrown at him.

One of the small ‘s’ sad things that happens every time there is a public accusation of sexual assault is that we have to listen to women who have so fully internalized the misogyny they were taught at the knee that their instinct is to blame the women. It’s just sad.

Nope. The doubling down is led by Trump. Trump wants Kavanaugh because Kavanaugh will put him above the law. That's the only reason. There are other more qualified, better candidates out there without the financial issues, the drinking, the women coming out of the woodwork. This candidate is heavily tainted. But Republicans need Trump to call their base out for them in 6 weeks. They made a Faustian bargain and all of us are suffering for it. I think their party will never recover from how much they have sold out American values.

I’ve been saying that since Dr. Ford came forward.

Yeah. Or you could just tell your son to be polite, respectful, always ask for consent, and never approach a woman who is intoxicated except to help.

She didn’t include this on her resume. The part about her working for this company were scrubbed from media accounts of her story.
And, Katz was her attorney.

Strange? You bet.

No it isn’t! I don’t list the job I was sexually harassed and filed a complaint either.

The original Guardian article had this:
The original Guardian article has been edited.

They took out THIS sentence.

"A 2007 report in a New Jersey newspaper, in which she was quoted as a member of the public preparing for that year’s Super Bowl, said she then worked for New York Life, the insurance company.”

They scrubbed that information in the current article.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/sep/26/brett-kavanaugh-latest-accusation-julie-swetnick-sexual-misconduct-michael-avenatti

Why would they do this? Evidently, other media did the same.

Gosh, do you think being gang raped might have caused some of that alleged instability?

Also the guy who got the restraining order sounds.... let’s call him “angry.”

In answer to your question, yes I do. I also think that there are people (both men and women) who are emotionally unstable and make up stories or embellish events.

Certainly. The oft-cited la crosse stripper, for example. But again, Judge’s ex girlfriend said that he had mentioned this to her as having happened.

Right. That's a key point. And why would she make up something so specific that then turn out to be corroborated? You'd have to believe that there is some vast, sophisticated conspiracy among women in all 50 states, to think this is all made up. It's much more plausible that 1) he partied hard, 2) he hung out with boys who did bad things, 3) he also participated.

It’s only unbelievable if you haven’t read or listened to any accounts when #metoo broke, or if you haven’t lived it or had a friend or relative live it. Gang rape isn’t as common as other assaults, but how can you not understand how common sexual assault is? I’m assuming you’re a woman - how have you managed not to hear about any of this?

This is how it starts. What about a real one? "He would never" "Not MY baby!" is what everyone, ESPECIALLY moms seem to think. But that's actually not true. You don't always know. Which is why you raise boys to not assault and be good people who would not have scores of women accusing them of misconduct. It's not hard. Instead, you basically just told your son that he can do no wrong, you'll always believe him, and women are crazy. So go act with impunity, right?
