CLAIM
Senator Richard Blumenthal misrepresented his record of military service during the Vietnam War.

RATING
MOSTLY TRUE
WHAT'S TRUE
Blumenthal made a handful of false and misleading statements about having served in Vietnam during the period of American involvement in the war there.

WHAT'S FALSE
Blumenthal insisted that those misrepresentations were "totally unintentional," as he has also more accurately and modestly represented his military service at other times.

I think you need to reread what you posted. But thanks for backing me up.

No need to pity me or any of my Republican friends. We are doing quite well. I have totally control over my body and my husband has the utmost respect for me. And, he is no “good ol’ boy.” Nor are any of the Republican men I know.

Nice stereotyping, though.

I'm going to provide the best reply so far to this one. If this were a hearing in the court of law you would have evidence, witnesses and depositions. This was not. There was no call to re-open the FBI background on Kavanagh either.

It is astounding to me that people still think sexual misconduct/assault is only believable if someone else witnessed it, or videotaped it. or watched it happen on the 50-yard line during Monday Night Football.

It's a sexual crime. Absent a rape kit, it's almost aways a he-said/she-said thing. If only someone had witnessed this incident....

Wait! Someone did! Wish we could actually hear from him. But that would take time and cause delays and we can't delay putting a justice on the SCOTUS....

And whose house was this gathering at? There were only 5-6 people there and all have been named except for one - the person whose house it was? That makes no sense. Maybe it’s someone who already has a high appointment and everyone has agreed to not bring it up?

Makes perfect sense if you don't want your story blown out of the water.

Frankly, Dr Ford did herself no favors today. The naive little girl act was ridiculous. She came across as a very dim bulb.

so you hope. So trump hoped. So Kavanaugh hoped.
She was completely convincing. Kavanaugh - what we know now is he has no self control and he was pretty much the epitome of every lawyer joke about lawyers being assholes.

Everyone watching can believe he is a rapist when he drinks. Everyone.

It is generally agreed that Ford was extremely convincing. Even journalists at Fox News thought so.

Kavanaugh, sadly, destroyed himself. He came across as the aggressive entitled frat boy he is. Even without any other reasons to disqualify him, based on his whiny yet belligerent attitude this afternoon, this unbalanced person has no business around the Supreme Court. A Supreme Court Judge should never let herself or himself be provoked to respond in such an immature way. I cringed for his poor wife.

That's what it takes to beat filth like you.
No one but Trump could beat a dirty dealer like Clinton.
More like Trump will beat the Democrat dirty dealers.

Polite, honest conservatives are no match for the scumballs.

Ha ha ha. Gorsuch had no problems. But you know his hobbies weren't getting drunk and raping people so there is that!

Here’s the thing.... We don’t really know if “Gorsuch had no problems.” Same with the other justices. Because, when a complaint or a letter like the one Dr. Ford sent comes in, the SJC deals with it, has FBI investigate it if necessary - CONFIDENTIALLY - and the general public never knows. We would have never heard about the information about the crazy loon in RI if someone hadn’t leaked that information and the SJC had to put out the interviews.
So, you can keep saying that, but we don’t really know. Just like we should have NEVER known about this one.

It doesn't mean much, but we can look at Gorsuch's yearbook page and compare it to Kavanaugh's. They're nothing alike. Gorsuch's looks like you would expect a future Supreme Court justice to look.

Yes, most SC nominees don't act like that even in high school or college.

Someone would have come forward with Gorsuch too if he had actually acted like Kavanaugh. It's not the 1980s anymore.

I believe fully and wholeheartedly she is lying.

Well she did lie about flying. Supposedly she didn’t want to come to DC because she would have to fly. Turns out she flew to DC in the summer to see family in Rehoboth and has flown to many destinations around the world

I completely believe the assault occurred, but she has no evidence of who did it. The fact that she fell apart for the remainder of high school and two years of college never raised her parents concern or that of a Holton-Arms Arms counselor. People of her SES would have had her at a shrink.

I know - why??

Crickets. She's just fine about flying all over the world. She lied again and again. Sad.

And laughed while she said it. That was weird as hell.

Our nation can do better. Kavanaugh is certainly not well spoken and doesn’t present himself as being particularly bright. He’s no great legal mind. He’s a meathead bro. His recounting of his glory days during today’s hearing was nauseating. And he lied about references in his yearbook (devil’s triangle, boof). Rather than being truthful about the meaning he chose to lie. We should not trust anything he has to say.

Do you mean his sister and his mother?

Is his sister the one crying next to his wife? None of them looked old enough to be his mom, so I guess props to her colorist and aesthetician. There were at least 4 blondes in the row behind him—all friends and relatives?
Genuinely curious...

I think what we are learning from Roy Moore, Kavanaugh, etc., is that Trump’s idiotic tactics only work for Trump. Everyone else drowns in that sea of stupid but he treads water. It’s sad that you seem to have learned the opposite lesson.

I don't think anyone is shocked that the Republicans are doubling down on entitled misogynists who aren't fit for the job. That's been adequately demonstrated at this point.

Good. They should. There is NO reason why he should not be confirmed.

I wish the SJC had called in the FBI for the investigation in to this. That is what Dr. Ford asked for. ALL of his victims have asked for that. Not him though.

Agree! But, Feinstein chose to hold onto the letter and not share. They would have referred it to the FBI, had she shared it.
