You may not like Melania, but she rarely responds to incidents like these on Twitter.

Melania Trump
@FLOTUS
A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.

We don't need a former nude model to tell us a line was crossed. Everyone in America knows it was a stupid thing for Karlan to say.

Oh BS. It was a perfect thing for her to say.

DP. It wasn't a perfect thing for her to say. Addressing it and calling Karlan out, sure. But the rest? "Very angry and obviously biased public pandering"? Jeez, Melania. Not perfect. But she really doesn't care...

I'm sorry you didn't have a Mama Bear. Melania is a Mama Bear.

It was a dumb way for her to attempt to protect her child. Not a surprise though.

I will eat my hat if Melanie wrote that tweet. You think she wrote the fundraising appeal, too, I imagine? Or is the Trump campaign also a Mama Bear?

You people are effin hysterical, and I mean that in both senses of the word.

seriously

It is really sad. We need to teach our children to have the integrity to admit when they are wrong. We can't keep producing people who need to win at all costs and have no sense of the more important issues at hand

I’m worried if we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected.

Who’s lacking integrity?

People who want to turn a blind eye to what Trump said and did. People who can't admit that he did this, and it is wrong, and it is an abuse of power. Those who can't admit it because in their minds it would mean admitting that they themselves are wrong. But it doesn't have to mean that. He is the one who did wrong. His conduct in office was a betrayal of his supporters who wanted him there as much as it is a betrayal of all Americans and the office itself (and our allies). But some people just want to "win" and "stick to the libs" and call people "losers" when they stand up for what is right and just. Those people are acting from the most base human competitiveness, ignoring their moral compass.

It was unwise. It also is a very, very far cry of Melania’s husband’s daily behavior, so she can shut it with the fake outrage. Kaplan didn’t make fun of the kid in any way. She used the action of the parent to illustrate what he (the parent) can and cannot do.

Bingo. All the cruel stuff Trump has said, and this is what Ms. Be Best cries out about.

But it was unwise and an unnecessary distraction

So you are saying that, because her husband acts like an idiot, she does not have the right to be upset when someone drags her kid into an impeachment inquiry? Really?

Read the tweet. She's half upset about her kid and half making political attacks.

Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. She enables him and also embraced the birtherism. The fact she only speaks up when her child is tangentially mentioned, as opposed to viciously targeted, speaks volumes about her values and priorities.

Hypocrisy at its be best.

Nothing negative was said re: the kid.

There was nothing wrong in Prof. Karlan's analogy. She was correct. Be can name his son Barron but he cannot give him a title of Baron. The GOP has nothing else so it grabbed this straw!

She should not have given them a straw.

It was stupid. Of all the analogies that she could have made, she chose one about Barron? Just shows her hatred for Trump.

They would just make something up then. The Republicans' outrage has no bearing in truth.

Meh. She likely doesn’t like Trump, but she does love the constitution and our democracy. Why don’t you?
