and they are going to cash in on the royal brand.

Note that she personalized them with their NAMES and not their titles. She lower cased the "f" in family and upper cased it in stating they are leaving the Royal Family.
The shade the English use is amazing. Sorry Megs. You chose the wrong suitcase.

Subtext is de rigeur for the British and no one does it better than the Queen. We love you, you are part of the family, but you are out of the family business.

Where is Meagan's daddy in all of this?

The plan has been that they work for the crown. The Queen's sister has worked and done the royal duties but none of the other grandchildren do.
Since they all live so long, no need to have to keep them all. The Queen has three children and six grandchildren who will not be king. They do not need that many people (not counting spouses), best to devise a plan for them to “graduate” off the royal teat. Harry has served them well and it is time.

But he’s still 100% on the royal teat! Ok fine. 95%.

Why would any of them want to marry Harry? Nothing in it for them.

But those and Margo Robbie are not phony at all and some enormously successful and talented. You make no sense.

And they are all definitely whiter. So, I guess we see why some women are better choices....

don’t you get tired of this. We do.

Not Pp, but yes. We do get tired of “it”. Especially people that are dismissive. Why does anyone every cry out unless there is some pain? How about we trade pain, and you see which is worse. Let’s trade races for a day and see if you feel the same after a year. Wouldn’t take that long, but I promise you wouldn’t have the privilege you don’t notice. I’ll take your white privilege card, and you can have my black race card. Then, come back and tell me what you’re more tired of. The bitching about racism, or being discriminated against and mistreated? It’s abuse, it’s hurtful, it’s damaging, it’s an epidemic, it’s real, Megan isn’t immune to it, and you can’t dismiss an experience you have not had. Even worse to get annoyed with people discussing the very relevant elephant in the room.

It was literally the lifelong fantasy of basically every millennial woman in the West.

let’s say that this is true but Harry is not interested in millions of average women. the pool of women who interest him
is very small and as they all age very few of them remain available. he would be able to find a young good looking rando till the end of his life but that is not what interests him.

Well, he married a rando, didn't he?

I’ll say!

To be fair, if we believe that a good fit for William and Harry is someone who actually understands the obligation/duty of the role, understands the scars left by his parents' divorce and his mother's death, is unfazed by family dysfunction playing out in the vicious press, and brings so much cash to the marriage that she couldn't be seen as a gold-digger, who does that really leave?

I mean, the Kennedy-Shriver-Schwarzenegger daughter is taken by Chris Pratt already, right?

I was thinking the same thing. All things being equal, not a lot of options.

It was the "fantasy", but how many would really like living the reality of a royal for the rest of their lives?

Or Australian Margot Robbie! She's so perfect. Looks like a princess.

Mmm... you mean she is white, while as the Black biracial Meghan does not....

The Queen’s sister has been dead since 2002. Do you mean Anne, the Queen’s daughter (Charles’s sister?)

It’s too bad Margaret isn’t still around.. she had quite the life!

Snort.

Where's the lie? Her career has been fading for years. Musicians' creative peaks are 16 to late 20s. Tell me she wouldn't end what little is left of her career today to be an English princess.

Taylor Swift is worth 300+ million dollars. She’s not just a musician she’s an astute businesswoman with her hands in a lot of different ventures beyond music. There’s NO WAY she would get married just to play second fiddle to Will and Kate. And frankly the fact that you would even suggest is borderline sexist. If Harry were a woman would you suggest Elon Musk would happily give up everything he’s worked for to be an English prince?

This is hyperbolic. If you gave TS a chance to marry peak Harry, I think she'd chomp at the bit. That doesn't mean her career would disappear. She's just take a step back. Musicians already take a step back as they fade from their creative peaks.

Not if that meant letting go of her music career.

It’s moot, but yes, her career would disappear because senior royals are not allowed to have careers of their own.

I believe the Queen's cousin, Princess Alexandra, was also a long-time working royal. But Elizabeth only had one sibling, Margaret, who didn't do that many royal engagements.
