2021 VA Governors race

I fully support voter IDs and proper registration of absentee and mail in ballots. I have to show ID to board a plane, to go to the doctors, to cash a check...why would I hesitate to do so to vote as an American?

Me too! Youngkin FTW.

If he had just denounced 1/6 and the Big Lie, I really maybe could have voted for him. But I just can’t.

No way. He supports all the Republican BS about the 2020 election. Utterly untrustworthy and into conspiracy theories. I don’t want him messing with our elections and encouraging domestic terrorists. I wish there were an old school Republican left but there are none. I hope McAuliffe or McClellan win the nomination since they are moderates.

+1

He made "election reform" part of his campaign strategy. He supports The Big Lie.

NOPE.

He actually is a never Trumper

“Snyder “declined to say whether Trump or Biden had won the White House.” That’s... not something that never Trumpers do.

Whoops, I copied the wrong quote. Youngkin “declined to say if he believes Biden was legitimately elected.” Also not something that never Trumpers do.

When has he denounced Trump? The Insurrection? The Big Lie?

He was endorsed by Trump so clearly he’s already pledged loyalty.

He would have to come out and clearly denounce Trump at this point to not be considered a Trumphumper.

Obviously the Democrats will manufacture an endless number of litmus tests that Youngkin will never be able to pass.

So be it. I'll be voting for Jennifer McClellan in the D primary but if McAuliffe, who is a phony who got rich on his political connections, not business acumen, buys the D nomination, which seems likely, I'll seriously consider Youngkin.

Not undermining democracy isn't really a "litmus test".

Youngkin has done nothing to suggest he'd undermine democracy. Sensible voter registration laws should find broad support.

But in your world the failure to say exactly what you want affirmed, and always on your terms, is disqualifying.

It shouldn’t be an effort to confirm that the President was legitimately elected, but here we are.

Casting aspersions on the legitimacy of the election and refusing to denounce an attempted coup = undermining democracy

You need to go back and re-examine the Democrats and their statements from 2016 onward and see if you are still able to support them as well.

I have. There's no both siding this

That’s news to Trump.

Trying to get lower energy bills instead of the renewable energy mandates that were recently passed would help.
I've seen this in the Northeast, with around 20xc per kilowatt hour, almost double a normal state.

So comparing the actions of 1000 random supporters with the actions of actual democratic leaders who: refused to attend the inauguration, called immediately for impeachment (yes, that was an attempt to overthrow a legitimate election), called for violence against cabinet members and WH officials, called for “resistance” by public employees paid with our tax dollars, legal harassment of Trump family members and administration officials and a constant drumbeat of interviews questioning Trump’s election, loyalty to the country, etc. are not comparable. The damage done to our democracy by Democratic Party leaders was MUCH more damaging. And was underlying the rage of January 6th.
