The St James acquires FCV

I guess the same folks willing to spend their time sitting in Springfield traffic so they can pay to play futsal to get their daughter a shitty soccer career when she leaves home (if she can even afford it). Good luck with your useless obsession. Btw, your daughter will NOT make the national team. Ever. She comes from you genetically, so she is too dumb. Thanks for the revenue however.

No dog in the fight, but that made me laugh...

My inner thoughts somehow ended up on this forum. Lol

But I could substitute a few more clubs in addition to FCV —basically anywhere there’s da....they will come

Loudoun dad...here is a link to a recent ECNL game I found on YouTube. Presumably these players have been "developed" by Loudoun along the way since Loudoun doesn't recruit right?

In no way am I suggesting the players are bad in this video, I am suggesting the players and their families have been ripped off for close to a decade under the guise of "development" while collecting trophies.

Maybe many of these girls could have truly "developed" somewhere that valued development more than wins at the youngest ages.

I found the free kick shortly after the 30 minute mark very indicative of Loudoun Dad's "development" narrative. The keeper has easy options to play out of the back to and decides to blast the ball long into a crowd of people. Maybe without FCV as a neighbor, Loudoun will teach the players how to actually play the sport instead of kick and chase - said no one ever.

Just watched a good portion of this game and I'm wholly unimpressed with this Loudoun team. Is this typical of other Loudoun teams? Hard to find where they complete more than 2 passes before losing the ball or more likely kicking it down the field. I don't know if they win games or not but geez this is not good soccer.

This was in no way a statement about the girls on the team. It is a statement about the coach and the program. Clearly they are not teaching them to make passes and try to possess the ball. It’s not that the team wasn’t capable of completing more than 2 passes, it’s that they weren’t even trying to complete passes. I fault only the coaches. Has nothing to do with which players are on the team and everything to do with style of play. My player is not in a top league and would probably lose to this Loudoun team, but boy do they play a different style.

Exactly. Even if your point is that the team in the video is comprised of former Loudoun B team players, it's the simple fact that these girls are looking to just slam the s- out of the ball when it comes near them. No possession, no build up. Hell, just watching them warm up with 40 yard passes should be enough to pull their coach's licenses. FCV or not, if you play this way in an area with tons of kids and families with resources, expect another club to form/step in and dominate in Loudoun's back yard.

Just got a new email from St. James regarding its U9 to U12 new Fairfax teams. Says practices will be at the St. James and at other Fairfax fields.

B team parent here from a good club here, we are now out. We can handle traffic to the St. James campus, but not risking a spot on our current team to commute to an unknown Fairfax field that could be over an hour commute in traffic.

Fairfax is a huge county, and specific locations matter.

No need to get feisty....

After watching the game I think one of the missing points here is just how bad BOTH teams are. The opponent is second in the division and is that bad. Way to go ECNL. This is what happens when no attempt at oversight over standards or playing style happens.

If that Carolina team can play that bad and be in second place in the division in ECNL color me unimpressed.

Notice how the ball moves from teammate to teammate as opposed to opponent to opponent.

Hey Loudoun parent, why don’t you find it yourself? Or maybe film one of your next games against the ECNL opponents above.

Many of these girls look like Loudoun A players. Oh wait, they are.

It's less about the quality of the players and more about the style of play. The Loudoun ECNL team in the first clip are girls who've been in Loudoun's system. Maybe they can play a better style, but you sure can't tell that from the clip posted.

Agree that the styles of play are different, but you're still comparing apples and oranges with the FCV team (with Loudoun A players on it....) versus the clip from the Loudoun ECNL team earlier in the thread....

Have you seen the FCV B team play? It's a disaster too.....

Agree. When any players are overmatched they tend to panic and play kickball. I have seen FCV do this plenty.

Those same players when evenly matched have the time to make clean passes.

Why would anyone expect any different from teenagers who are still learning the game?
