Loudoun Struggles in ECNL

Anonymous
If FCV was serious about challenging Loudoun for their top 07s they would have stopped avoiding them and other top clubs in tournaments. They lost all respect a long time ago.

Come back in March and tell us about all the top Loudoun 07s that come to your DA sessions.

Arlington - McLean same thing. They think our players are coming to their GDA to make it strong. No one wants to leave ECNL. You have to have a good team for interest in ID sessions.

I think FCV is counting on their track record with results, wins and college placements. They don't recruit teams (usually), they recruit players. It's personal, and it comes through events and relationships outside head to head games.

Right. It's laughable to think their program hangs in the balance based on their ability to 'recruit' players off of one kick-and-run team from another club.

And yet here we are. It seems like the FCV parents are the one panicked about their pipeline ending now that Loudoun has ECNL. Notice how nobody cares to talk on the FCV threads on this board? That’s called a lack of interest.

It doesn't look like anyone here is exactly "panicked." It doens't surprise me that the FCV posters are silent. Why would they need to be loud about it; they just want to pick off a few of the players that they target. They don't need to convince a bunch of Loudoun parents on this forum that they are a better option, and this is definitely not the place to even have that conversation. It's just not how they work. Which is why they are more successful than the pump artists on these boards.

+1. This year, FCV was even able to recruit a number of players from Loudoun's top boys teams. And they don't have as strong of a program on the boys side.

But I thought FCV didn't recruit, they "develop".

^ Says the FCV poster. They are anything but silent. Always trolling the Loudoun threads. In fact, every single anti-Loudoun post is an FCV fanboy.

FCV recruits quietly. Shhh...don’t let the word get out!

LOL. Funny one. To be fair, every club recruits. Loudoun recruits from FCV. FCV recruits from Loudoun. Players move between both clubs for various reasons. On the girls side, there was more movement towards FCV, but also some girls left FCV for Loudoun. There was less movement on the boys side, but it seems there is more movement in the last couple years.

But I thought FCV didn't recruit, they "develop".

I also do not think that FCV is trying to poach the entire team from any particular club. They might pursue a handful of players from various clubs and some players will probably pursue them even before formal ID sessions. FCV's website offers individual player tryouts for those who do not want to wait for their ID sessions. I would not be surprised if some players got offers much earlier than March. I think what separates the strongest teams in this area from the rest of the pack is their depth in quality players rather than a particular player with true star quality. A club can really stack it roster and be dominant without having to bring a team from another club.

Yes, agreed. A strong bench and one or two impact players is all they need for results.

The top teams in the state at U11 and U12 are populated by players who have the physical ability to play up a year and are dominating by size and speed, as well as the same skill level of less developed players in their age group.

*less physically developed players in their own age group
