Numbskull! |
Looks like someone learned a new English word! Well done, Ivan! Pro-Tip: don't use it over and over. It makes it easier to spot you. |
I stand with the other numbskull-users. Numbskull. |
| If he were still alive "The Macho Man" Randy Savage. |
| I just don’t see a path to victory for Jealous. I’m not sure that I even want to vote for him, and I’m a pretty consistent Dem. I don’t really want to vote for Hogan either, however. I wish Madaleno had gotten the nomination. |

Jealous announced he is in favor of free community college for MD dreamers. Regardless of what one thinks of this policy, I wonder how it will play politically. He is clearly trying to energize his base and bring traditional non-voters to the polls, but it certainly is not without risks.

What on earth is wrong with free community college? In what trumptard crazypants world is having people get an education a BAD thing?
Perhaps you just don't like the idea of brown people getting ahead, maybe? Yes, yes, that's probably it. |
I think think it’s fine if there is a valid way to pay for it. Curious how he’s planning to reduce 30% of the prison population..... I think the WaPo article was poorly written. Judging by the comments, it seems a lot of readers didnt understand that Jealous is merely extending his free community college proposal to include Dreamers. |
| From what I understand, Americans can go to some colleges in Europe for free. So what's wrong with this? |
Dreamers have no path to citizenship. It's cruel to continue to offer them opportunities without fixing that glaring problem. |
No one actually said they are against it. And there are clearly reasons people could oppose it other than keeping minorities down. Nothing is free. One could reasonably argue that the people who stand to benefit from the education pay for at least part of it. In addition to this arguably being more equitable it gives people more skin in the game. For people who can't afford tuition, there are way to allow them to attend without making it free for them not to mention others who can afford at least some tuition, such as no or low cost loans. And of course, some people oppose providing this benefit to undocumented immigrants, which is not inherently racist, whether you agree with it or not. |
Nothing is free. Someone has to pay for it. And I’m not interested in paying for college for illegal immigrants. I am brown, so it has nothing to do with race. I don’t care what color the people are. If they are here illegally, I should not be paying for their college. Bad enough we pay for their healthcare. |
First of all, no one here believes you "are brown". Brown isn't a country. Brown isn't a place you're from. So stop pretending you're anything but a whitebread UMC'r like everyone else here, because no one is falling for it. Secondly, "free" means "free to them" - not "no cost". Of course it costs money. And frankly, you already pay for lots of other things already, so a few more dollars isn't going to kill you. This is a very wealthy state, and that wealth needs to be spread around to make things more equitable. That's really all this is. No one is saying that college should be free for everyone, ok? Just the Dreamers. They, quite frankly, need and deserve it more than citizens because of what they're trying to overcome. They have to work so much harder in life just to get to where people like you start at from the beginning. You should have to spend a week in the life of these people. Then you would understand what compassion means. |
