Well, you should, because the people you are cheating are not the ones who did wrong here.

If it’s good enough for the Chancellor and Deputy Mayor to find it acceptable, then I’m completely fine with my choices. Maybe I’ll get caught like they did, but I doubt it.

So you are fine with yourself being a dishonest person just because people in positions of power also do it? Yikes. Who else do you look to for moral inspiration?

You’re hurting your children by impairing their sense of right and wrong. That is something that cannot be supplied to them by any school.

Tell that to the Mayor and Chancellor. I'm fine with my choices.

What kind of pressure must Wilson’s wife have applied to the deputy mayor for her to essentially compromise her reputation forever? The DM has to have known that this situation would be discovered. The wife must have held something over her head right?

Is that why you feel the need to confess your choices on an anonymous message board? Don’t kid yourself: you diminish yourself in your child’s eyes by being a cheater and a liar.

Nah. I think she just had to tell her a very sad sob story. And for all we know something bad - bullying or whatever - was happening at Ellington.

I still can't believe he thought he could get away with breaking his own damn policy within 12 months of writing it.

I agree. He knew the answer to the question that he posed to the DME - she should have given him the right answer. But he is not faultless, it was his own policy for god sake. He knew what he needed to do, he needed to move house. And now he needs to look for a new job.

He is new to the area and trying to navigate a lot in a short amount of time, with a very high profile, visible position. It should be part of the deal. When Rhee came no one gave a crap about the fact that she stuck her kid in a sought after school. She used her privileges not just for her self, but her cronies too. No problem. Kaya does it and it's a problem. Wilson does it and you want his head! Why can't you accept that some positions have perks? I think being a Chancellor is one of them.

Well you obviously lack a moral compass, moron.

I'm not sure this is going to help with the District's bid for Amazon's HQ2.

I'm amazed it went on as long as it did. I'm sure the first time the kid walked through the doors at Wilson there were raised eyebrows.

That’s the only silver lining. They are an awful employer and the tax breaks being offered are obscene.

But don’t kids move in and out of the schools all year long? Not sure general public would have known. They might have thought she was on a waitlist and a space opened up...

The myopia of DCUM.

It won't have any effect. D.C. is probably less likely than md or va anyway, but to the extent D.C. is under serious consideration this won't be on the radar. D.C. schools generally may be a slight factor (but not much bc folks can live in the burbs if they want) but this incident itself won't factor in.

what's really sad -- although maybe not surprising -- is that the chancellor's family determined, after several weeks, that Ellington was nit a fit for their child. Ellington is supposedly a DCPS showcase.

And more recently, the chancellor's family determined they'd rather homeschool their child rather than enroll her in their inbound school. Even knowing that child would receive red carpet treatment at said school (personal security assured to extent possible, best-of-the-bunch teachers).

Again, I'm not necessarily surprised.

She was there a MAXIMUM of 3 weeks. It is profoundly unlikely that she was so badly bullied that they ran out of options in less than a month. The explanation that she just wasn't ready for a program that was supposed to be audition based is much more likely.
