Woah, posts on DCUM can be deleted??! I had no idea since most of it is such a shitshow. Crazy. I thought there was literally no moderation at all. This thread is only one case in point.

Well I’m annoyed because stuff has been deleted and I don’t know what rules those posts broke.

New schools need rock solid written policies and procedures and ongoing training from day 1, for all staff that has contact with kids (admin, teachers, aides, specialists).

Schools need to train all staff on their responsibilities as mandated reporters.

School staff should not be allowed to offer tutoring, enrichment lessons and so forth to students enrolled in the school. Parents should be apprised of this policy in the student/family handbook.

Teachers should not be able to excuse / take students out of aftercare for 1:1 work.

All staff positions should be required to be posted publicly, and a team of teachers and administrators should interview all candidates for positions that will work with children.

Stop trying to turn this foodfight into some kind of actually rational reasonable thread. Everyone on here is basically just shouting, or trying to hold up a food tray to protect themselves from flying ketchup. So to speak.

Very true. Thread should be locked.

Reporter made a few mistakes here.

She certainly did.

Lamb parent here, for the most part parents are divided in two groups, one that only cares about the school moving on and surviving and the other group who are victims or know the victims, had kids in Manolo's class or has compassion for the victims and their families. The two do not seem to agree on a solution and now that I write this, I would say that there is a third small group made up by parents who are friends of Manolo and his wife (his kids still go to LAMB and his wife is at the school every day) and those parents still believe that it is all a misunderstanding and that Diane and Cristina should not have been fired.

I do not understand the split between the first two groups you list. Why are there not families who both empathize with the victims/are victims AND want the school to find a way forward? Also, how is it possible that there are LAMB families who are part of this third group? Nobody ever wants to believe something terrible happened, but that does not mean you pretend it did not and deny the facts that are in front of you. I hope that this third group is a very, very tiny and silent group, otherwise they will make the LAMB community seem like an absolutely horrible group of people.

Any “solution” is out of LAMB parents’ hands.

It is all up to the LAMB board. All parents can do is stay or leave.

As another LAMB parent, I disagree with that poster. I do not think there is a split between the first two groups listed. Certainly from what I can tell (school meetings, emails, talking to others) I believe MOST families do both empathize with the victims AND want the school to move forward. I actually think categorizing parents into "groups" is counterproductive and cannot possibly be accurate.

Not really. I think this is just some trolling. If they exist they are few and silent.

[parent of a victim here....]

YES. REALLY! There are an array of feelings among parents - i don't think you can categorize them into 3 groups though. There are parents who empathize with the victims and parents who think he's still innocent (small group I think but they exist.) Parents who want to know everything that has gone on and others who want to know nothing (those that don't know much are usually the ones who question his guilt and criticize any lawsuits.). Some who think the victims are totally justified in suing, others who question their reasoning. It's a rich tapestry of opinion. Just like in every other aspect of life.

Personally, I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks. I believe my child and I know Diane and Cristina made horrendous mistakes and I'm glad they are gone. I support the lawsuits and I will still fight tooth and nail for the school to continue. The school is so much more than Diane and Cristina.

Wrong. We have a lot more power than you give us credit for.

I like you. I’m so sorry this happened to your family.
