Jaime Moreno on the U12 DA coaching staff for McLean.

Granted, there probably aren't that many 06s who even know who he is, since they were like 4 when he hung up his boots. Still, learning from a guy who had over 100 goals and 100 assists as a professional, that would be pretty cool.

Cool, yes But after 1 year, you have to pick between Loudoun or Arlington for U13 DA Might as well go to those to begin with

And one year after that they are done with DA by U14.

Ain't gonna make anything else after that/-it's back to CCL.

You tools are all so team oriented. That's not what makes a good player.

Anonymous wrote:Tonight was the first night of tryouts for Arlington U9s. Do they make all the kids go to all three days, or is there rolling notification? I understand there's a fourth day to determine which team kids are on - if it is clear a kid will be in the mix do they let anybody know early?

Politics and nepotism was on blatant display at the final tryout last night. It's not how you play it's who you know.

We were there last night, too. It's our first time at tryouts for any travel club, so we didn't know what to expect. We were surprised to see so many parents approaching the coaches. Are they lobbying for their kids? DS said that the results will be posted online on Thursday.

Yes. Ass-kissing is an art form there. What you don't see is even worse--phone calls, emails behind the scenes.

I come from a time and place that stuff wasn't tolerated and it had the opposite effect--they wouldn't take you if you were a pain in the ass like that.

Arlington is that way in everything--school, sports, etc. You know in real soccer countries--parents aren't allowed anywhere near tryouts and are kept apart from the coaches. The idea of a parent lobbying or pleading or making up fake injuries to get their kid into academies over there is ludicrous, but here it's the way it is done.

What age group? What if a new travel parent has a question? Are you not supposed to ask the coach?

Does anyone have an information on Springfield Youth Club travel soccer? I am looking at U9 boys. A few questions I have... Does my kid have any chance of making it if he has not done their U7/U8 program? He has played with another team, but not SYC. How many kids do they usually take? It looks like they will have 3 teams. How many kids show up at tryouts generally? How has the club been for player development?

TIA for an information you might have.

DS's team played against a couple of their teams at U9 and U11 (thank you very much, age-group change making him skip a year). The U9s were overmatched and experimental -- they insisted on having their goalkeeper come out all the way to midfield, and they didn't care if they gave up goals on breakaways. The U11s (this year) are outstanding.

That could mean they have up-and-down years like a lot of smaller clubs, or it could mean the coaching is fantastic.

Vienna announced its 2017-18 coaches, which I can't remember them doing before:

Anyone attend the 1st boys U9 Loudoun tryout this past weekend? We had a conflict and missed, but wondering how many boys were there and how many teams they will take. TIA.

If a coach has 3 teams, is that bad in that they are stretched too thin? We are considering trying out for one of Curtis Wilson's teams.

You get to choose which coach you try out for?
