Gggrrroooaaannn!!! Laura, you quack like a duck - and countless listeners have expressed their concern that BBC's news is, in fact, unintelligible because of you. But it looks like BBC Amewwwica isn't listening or simply doesn't care (probably your husband vetoing any decision to take you off). Now I usually give up listening to BBC Amewwwica whenever I see that the "duck-quack" lady is on.

How the heck is this topic on page 21?
That's it. I'm going to watch/listen to her now. |
Her Accent is decidedly Low Class, which in itself isn't a problem; however, her actual Voice accentuates the Accent and is even more painful to listen to. It is sad that her Husband has so much influence to keep her on the air.
BBC America doesn't seem to care what so many are posting here. She continues, even expanding into Fridays.
That NASAL voice.. like fingernails on a chalkboard. Can't BBC afford voice training or something? I change channel immediately if she's on.
There are only SIX (6) Pages per year opposing this voice. Lets ask our friends to Post here and try to increase this number. Perhaps we can have some of the Tabloids pick it up to get BBC attention.
When I Googled her and accent, I read that it is not cockney but a low middle class accent. However, it is more the sound of her voice than the accent which we probably could live with. The sound just gives the chills.
When Laura's speaking it is the same as a group of quacking ducks & I find it absurd that she with her strained quacking delivery seems to go unnoticed by the BBC so that we have to endure it when they offer better voices irregularly?
She continues to torture and deprive us of the BBC America News. Her nasal, gritty, horrid voice and accent make it not worth watching,
It’s not a speech disorder like Diane Rehm has, and can’t be helped. This woman just should not have a speaking job.
Her voice his so scratchy it gives me the shivers. She could also get rid of that wart on her forehead which is another distraction.
|
I wish she would take some training from the BBC's resident voice trainer. She needs to learn to speak from the bottom of her throat rather than from her nose. I watch her in Canada through PBS US and often turn the channel because her nasal
tone is so grating. Get some help, Laura! |
Why doesn't she stay home during this crisis so that we can watch BBC America. Her voice is so annoying it creates anxiety for me.
Laura's pronunciation of America just grates on my nerves. America is not pronounced Amarica. How dare you report on American news and mispronounce America.
Amarica seems to be the only way she can pronounce our country. Agreed, she is a disgrace to be on BBC America. Amarica isn't the only word her gritty voice mispronounces.
