Laura Trevelyan's accent

Such nasty enunciation!! I guess she's simply too old to learn to speak in an intelligible English accent (intelligible to the majority of Anglophones, that is) - and her husband too big a cheese in the BBC "Amewwica" to get rid of her as anchor (though, granted, she is a good journalist). Laura: have you honestly tried a) not to speak through your nose; b) to soften your duck-like quack by not stretching your lips so far sideways; and c) to practice an "r" that doesn't sound like a "w"? Btw: I am a foreigner and my mother tongue is not English. Nebertheless, I do understand most English accents (Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Lancastrian, etc., as well as Australian, Canadian and US accents. But, try as I may, yours eludes and irks me!

She has the most irritating voice on TV. She should retire.

Currently I am currently in Greece and was surprised to hear Greeks who listen to BBC News feel the same way we do about Travelyan's horrible voice. I showed them this Site and they were delighted to know they are not alone in their dislike of this Anchor.

She sounds like Donald Duck with a hangover!!!

I can’t stand her nasal twang and the stretch of her mouth to pronounce words… sounds like a damn cat in pain. Get rid of her…please!

Why does BBC put her on during crisis issues like in the Brazil ian election when they know so many of us have to switch channels rather than listen to her skreeching voice.
Anonymous
Perhaps BBC will leave her in Brazil permanently. She is not for the American ear.

She sounds phony

She has the most annoying voice on television. Sounds like chalk running across a blackboard. Fortunately we can switch channels when she comes on.

I love her accent. Her voice and her mouth is the reason I watch that news.

I am her husband, the president of ABC News. No one cares what your opinion is of anything.

Based upon the above defense from her husband we have to skip ABC News which isn't very good anyway. Obviously, his power extends to BBC News America or she would have been history long ago.

Oh my!! So many negative comments; however, she really is difficult to listen to. I am surprised with this outpouring of dissent BBC doesn't take her off the Anchor job.

LT looks pleasant but sounds anything but! The BBC used to be so particular regarding their broadcasters - intonation, grammar, demeanour was of paramount importance - what happened? Who pulled the strings to allow these ghastly voices near a microphone?
I understand that we perhaps need representation from all parts of the country, even all corners of the earth but please have pity on our senses. Laura, to put it politely, just GRATES, others almost screech. Please appoint someone who sounds more like Joanna Lumley and less like Peggy amount.

The above comment sort of says it all. However, I noted that her Husband responded on this page, but now that he is no longer with ABC News his influence will diminish.
