How would you react to a stranger shooshing your child at a restaurant?

It would not be a DCUM thread unless someone corrected you to say that the thread has run amok!

Thank you for making this thread 21 pages. I wonder if one thread has gone on for an entire year. I think this one has a chance. OP, please keep us up-to-date on any new shooshings, irrespective of age or restaurant.

Also, did the older" couple look at DS again? If so, what did your husband do? I wish I'd been there because I would have turned around and stared at him.

Sadly this thread is not complete. No grammar police.

And I don't think race has been brought up, either.

I beg to differ with PP 17:13. This is a firecracker thread. Liike Bouquet Bride and Leslie's Fancy Cakes, it had a burst of energy, but it will be forgotten in a week.

Now, your Viagra threads include "A Word Game", "How to Get Into St. Albans", and "Capital Cotillion for Beauvoir Son". But their staying power is because these threads became repositories for all the questions and comments on a theme.

I don't see that happening here. Shooshing is a fairly rare occurence. I can't imagine this becoming a "file box" thread for other similar stories. What is similar to "shooshing"?

I will be disappointed when this thread fades into the annals of DCUM. It has been rather entertaining the last day or two.

This thread cannot die because it makes me laugh. If necessary, I will bump it every day to see that is continued. I no longer care about OP (where is she, she hasn't posted in awhile.) I just like "shooshing" and every time I see a child I am going to say "shoosh" to see what happens.

Thread is no longer flatlining. I hope this makes page 22.

Good grief yourself. If you bothered to read the COMPLETE TRANSCRIPT of the case, you would KNOW that the plaintiff later admitted it was INDEED an IHOP. It's a wonder you made it through law school.

She's obviously not in BIG LAW and just a fed working from home wasting our tax dollars. SHOOSH!

Yes, you're right. Plus, not a feminist! If she was a BIG LAW mom, and the old people offered her a "kitchen pass" for her child's transgressions, she might have gotten violent.

Feminism is not dead. But really when your child acts up, is it the BIG LAW Mom who went to an IVY LEAGUE LAW SCHOOL or the loser dad who is to blame???

All I can say is thank god I wasn't there, and I don't have these problems.

After the child was shooshed, burst into tears and comforted by the mother, did she wipe his face with a burgundy washcloth?

Oh please tell me more about this. I must have missed it because I totally don't get the reference.

I think burgundy is a reference to Harvard colors.

Ahh, of course. But it should have been a crimson washcloth then ...

Don't you remember the thread about various options for "period protection"? It included introduction of the crochet tampon (visuals are available on yesterday's "off topic" under something like "memorable DCUM postings), the diva cup (TMI) and burgundy washcloths instead of items such as Tampax or pads. It was a very long and very hilarious posting which also recalled memories of the Menstruation Museum in (I think) Hyattsville.

The crochet tampon was on yesterday's Off Topic and the thread was give me a reason to keep reading DCUM. I remember the burgundy washcloth under the discussion on the Diva Cup ( I used one in college).
