Or Asia in general.

Americans who haven't traveled much have zero clue how far we are falling behind the modern world. It is amazing what countries can build when they're not throwing away $5 trillion dollars down the toilet in the middle east.

We went to Japan and it is just mind blowing how everything works. Trains are on time. Trash gets picked up. World class infrastructure. Virtually no crime. South Korea, the same thing. Singapore the same thing. Taiwan the same. Even a country like Thailand had much more affordable healthcare in our experience (broke arm cost $240 total to treat with zero insurance). We haven't been to China yet, but their progress with regards to modernization is blowing the US out of the water. Many areas of the US are stuck in like 1960s development and have gone downhill since.

It is scary. I read something that said that leaders in China are engineers but leaders in America are lawyers. That tells you everything you need to know and I'm a lawyer!

Where have you traveled? I disagree. It’s not everywhere

Fix the roads here already. Compared to Europe we have dirt roads. Fix the trains. Compared to anywhere we have ancient trains.

Why is all our American citizen tax money going to stupid and awful wars that don’t help any American citizens? Call all your reps every day from now on!

Europe is worst, trash piling up, constant worker strikes. People don't want to work many counties like Spain require 30% time off

Not where I've been. It's been amazing.

They're never good lawyers either.

All of those countries care for their citizens and do not allow unchecked immigration. Also, they vet the immigrants. Also, they don't have a lot of DiVerSIty.

Go figure. Hmm.

so tell Melania and Usha and their families to go back to where they came from. OH, wait Melania is ok because she's white, right?

South Korea is actually allowing in more immigrants because they don't have enough workers willing to take the lower wage jobs. Their population, along with Japan's, is dying out.

Even so, every developed country, Europe to Asia and beyond, has some form of universal healthcare. Americans are suckers.

Singapore will kick your azz if you get out of line. Wanna try the No Kings protests there? Your head is getting bashed in.

And to whoever said Japan is squared away a few pages back, they certainly are. They also take personal responsibility for their lives. They're thin and fit and aren't injecting themselves with big pharma every 15 minutes. Contrast that to the GLP-1 threads on this site and the lack of willpower in America. There's plenty of parallels to these problems. Not every problem is someone else's fault. Look inward.

Boy do I have news for you. The road and train fixes have been paid for here in the US several times over. The taxes have been collected and disbursed. We just never got the fix! That's what bureaucracy gets you.

And the Pentagon has never passed an audit. Ever. And we are investing billions of dollars in defense contractors.

If the U.S. had Chinese-level high-speed rail,
DC to NYC would take about 70 min.

Cost estimate: $120-160B

So less cost than a few weeks in Iran.

You don't invest anything. Stop using the word invest where it doesn't belong. We PAY contractors. Got it?

Stop playing f'n games. A big part of how we got here is a lack of honesty. Changing terms and using them where they shouldn't be used is part of that.

BTW, the pentagon blows up stuff a helluva lot better that work crews fix roads and fix trains. Amtrak has NEVER turned a profit in its existence. How is that for an " audit"?

I don't care about estimates. They never materialize. In the US, they're nice dreams.

Japan planned, paid for and most importantly executed, on building the Shinkansu high speed rail system in the 1970s. France has high speed rail. So does Spain.

What about California? Twenty five years and what to show for? Some environmental impact statements, some well paid committees and rich lawyers. All talk (no hat), paper shuffling and endless "planning". You'd have to be stupid not to see reality at this point.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Well, the accounting department was hit on 9/11 after it was reported that trillions were missing from the Pentagon. All of this tech was destroyed in a week by Irans drones that cost 20k. The F35 jet cost a trillion dollars. The taxpayer money is obviously subsidizing this overinflated grift. I remember a report that Boeing charged the government over 8000% the rate for soap dispensers on their planes

Big defense budgets are scamming the taxpayers. You can point the slow collapse of America to this
