Where have you traveled? I disagree. It’s not everywhere

Fix the roads here already. Compared to Europe we have dirt roads. Fix the trains. Compared to anywhere we have ancient trains.

Why is all our American citizen tax money going to stupid and awful wars that don’t help any American citizens? Call all your reps every day from now on!

Boy do I have news for you. The road and train fixes have been paid for here in the US several times over. The taxes have been collected and disbursed. We just never got the fix! That's what bureaucracy gets you.

And the Pentagon has never passed an audit. Ever. And we are investing billions of dollars in defense contractors.

Well, the accounting department was hit on 9/11 after it was reported that trillions were missing from the Pentagon. All of this tech was destroyed in a week by Irans drones that cost 20k. The F35 jet cost a trillion dollars. The taxpayer money is obviously subsidizing this overinflated grift. I remember a report that Boeing charged the government over 8000% the rate for soap dispensers on their planes

I'm sure they did overcharge. And why? Because they could. Meanwhile you have armies of civil servants crossing every t and dotting every i... and for what?

All I see are buildings full of people collecting a guaranteed pay check.

This is a DC centric website. Do you think I'm stepping on any toes? I certainly hope so. For all the complaining on this site, look in the mirror.

Oh, and HUD, HHS, Pfizer, Moderna, and a thousand others. Let's not forget a thousand state-level programs that bill Uncle Sam for reimbursement. Corruption wide and deep.

You don't invest anything. Stop using the word invest where it doesn't belong. We PAY contractors. Got it?

Stop playing f'n games. A big part of how we got here is a lack of honesty. Changing terms and using them where they shouldn't be used is part of that.

BTW, the pentagon blows up stuff a helluva lot better that work crews fix roads and fix trains. Amtrak has NEVER turned a profit in its existence. How is that for an " audit"?

(DP). I’d say it’s fine that Amtrak has never turned a profit. If it gets people where they need to go safely at reasonable prices, helps reduce traffic and pollution, I see that as a public good. I’d rather my tax dollars be spent on transportation and infrastructure that I’ll actually use than tax cuts for the uber-wealthy, unprovoked foreign wars, or dedicated airplanes for Trump’s staff.

That would be amazing. Imagine what that can do For Job markets. You can live in DC and commute daily to work in NY

Here is your reminder that 1 in 6 federal employees are healthcare workers. They provide medical services to Americanveterans, to fulfil treaty obligations to Native Americans on reservations, and to other underserved areas.

Or Asia in general.

Americans who haven't traveled much have zero clue how far we are falling behind the modern world. It is amazing what countries can build when they're not throwing away $5 trillion dollars down the toilet in the middle east.

We went to Japan and it is just mind blowing how everything works. Trains are on time. Trash gets picked up. World class infrastructure. Virtually no crime. South Korea, the same thing. Singapore the same thing. Taiwan the same. Even a country like Thailand had much more affordable healthcare in our experience (broke arm cost $240 total to treat with zero insurance). We haven't been to China yet, but their progress with regards to modernization is blowing the US out of the water. Many areas of the US are stuck in like 1960s development and have gone downhill since.

All of those countries care for their citizens and do not allow unchecked immigration. Also, they vet the immigrants. Also, they don't have a lot of DiVerSIty.

Go figure. Hmm.

it smacks you in the face and STILL we have this push for more and more immigration.

isn't this just because the US is the only nation with diversity? maybe Brazil as well? When there is just one diverse nation, the statisical uncertainty on any conclusion you draw from it is 100%

Over the past 10 years, the US has seen a steady rise in foreign medical students taking US student residency spots.

Every year, 1000+ US medical students fail to match, while 6000+ FMGs do match. About half of unmatched students find a spot, but they must still compete with FMGs for the leftover positions, leaving 500 - 600 US medical students with a worthless medical degree.

Why?

we are broken and controlled by special interests

Not stepping on toes IMO. Former fed who managed large contracts (non DOD). In my experience, when I held contractors accountable they were shocked. I became known as the a-hole project manager. My shitty bosses wouldn't give me work or support me, but the handful of times I had good, competent bosses we got stuff done on time in within budget. I learned to take orphan projects that no one else wanted and produce meaningful work (or take the contract action to shut it down.) I could have shown DOGE a thing or two if they were actually looking for waste, fraud or abuse.

No money for anything but wars.
That is the American way since the 70s.

Read about the times where government actually FUNDED education, and community pools, and community activiites and supports. THAT is how you make America great again.

Misogyny. This is why we couldn't have Hillary Clinton. Racist misogyny is why we don't have President Harris instead of Orange Man.

Joe Biden is why we have the idiot orange man instead of Harris. As the VP of an extremely unpopular sitting POTUS, Harris had zero chance. Oh and by the way, Pence and Mondale were in the same shoes as Harris as VPs of unpopular presidents and guess what? Their careers ended too. It is what it is

what??? thave you actually BEEN anywhere? most European countries are very diverse now, and Malaysia, indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, china, have always been diverse. Japan is getting there and so is S. Korea. South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and other East African nations are also very diverse. The geopolitics at play are beyond your simplistic assessments and diversity in most places looks different. africans in east Asia and East Asians in South Asia are symbols of diversity but black people in the Carolinas are not b/c they are native to the USA. you realize this right- that black people from the Carolinas, MD, VA, LA, AL, TX are "heritage" americans?? if you dont you aren't really informed to speak on this topic.
